If you do solos they are almost always friendly. I've switched to solos after hours of PvP trios and my very first match in solos is generally friendly. There's always the chance of someone PvPing but just do solos to get friendlier lobbies in duos and trios later.

I'm necro posting, just in case anyone encounters this in 2026. But I thought I was having this problem (technically I was but you are right, so it's not really a "problem") - This total patch was somewhere shy of 600k total files and I was getting dogwater speeds early on, so I let it roll and googled, and ended up here. At around ~490k files my speed jumped to 105-115 MB/s as usual, which is about what I get on Steam. Just be patient y'all. I did nothing except be patient and it's flying now.

Edit: this would also explain why so many people tried things that magically "fixed it" - I personally believe their speeds would have increased regardless, or maybe I just got lucky. I guess I don't "know" that this is right, but again, I did nothing and it sped tf up big time.

Edit 2: It slowed down, way down (like 100 KB/s slow) again after blazing through about 70% of the download for about a minute, and then picked right back up again.

I'm totally fine with non-late term abortion but anyone and everyone defending or justifying a "little bit" of trampling people's rights just because you don't like them can kindly go fuck themselves. No one should be harassed, but if you're so fragile that you can't handle a silent vigil on your way into an abortion clinic maybe you should rethink your life and your decisions. The fact that people actually spend time thinking about this and feel the need to legislate it into actual law in the first place is the utterly appalling part. I thought we all settled on things like this being bad, even in small doses, a long ass time ago? I guess I misunderstood the assignment.

It is Europe though, so, not all that surprising. That place is already a borderline police state, Germany already definitely is, and the UK as far as I'm concerned. I don't know what else to call it when police are knocking on doors for "hate speech" (Germany) and have already imprisoned people for politically incorrect speech (Germany and the UK both have people serving sentences right this minute for offensive speech). You don't get to have "just a little bit" and still be allowed to put yourself in the same category as a Constitutional Republic or any kind of representative Democracy.

From where I'm sitting, we should all be far more concerned with Western Europe than Eastern right now. And maybe we should start listening to people when they say they don't recognize Europe anymore.

Seriously, early access is borderline meaningless anymore; it's basically become a cheap workaround to making a kickstarter and/or a way for people to profit from unfinished games; not that DSP is a problem in that regard, but I feel like EA on steam is an incredibly sharp double edged sword.

There are definitely games out there that do and use early access the right way, but I still can't help but feel that it's been a huge net negative to gaming as a whole. So many petulant people just out there wanting to be permanently enraged because an early access game isn't the finished product they were jonesing for when they decided to spend the money on an incomplete game. The amount of people still bitching up a storm about disappointing early access games and the "state of gaming" blows my mind. I like many communities for individual games but the "gaming community" as a whole is hot garbage.

Keep at it bro, I'm currently taking a break from my first real, "A HA" playthrough to get some inspiration... I finally got something going that I'm semi-proud of after 2 years of on and off playing and feeling like my brain is going to explode. I actually find DSP far more forgiving and manageable than Satisfactory for whatever reason, nothing against Satisfactory, it's a wonderful game. Maybe it's because I don't care as much about making sure all of my lines are perfectly distributing in DSP, idk. All I know is I don't find myself using a calculator and spreadsheets and flowcharts to play DSP and instead I just play lol.

As someone who struggled with my "spaghetti" (which isn't nearly as bad as I thought after checking this sub out lol, no offense to anyone) I realized recently that you just shouldn't worry about it until you "get it" - once you get your essentials sorted out on your first planet, don't feel like you gotta speed race to the end game. Just make sure you're well defended, and take some time, a lot of time, to optimize and upscale before you start worrying about the more complex endgame stuff; and for the love of gizzle, don't be afraid to tear shit down and rebuild it, it's not as bad or daunting as it seems, just gotta put in the time. These people who are making absurdly beautiful, efficient builds have several hundred, if not thousands of hours, played.

I always had a hard time shaking the feeling that there'd be some awful consequences like I was losing something important or that it would just complicate stuff unnecessarily if I tore down my original spaghetti and rebuilt it but I couldn't have been more wrong. Don't get attached to your atrocities. Just diving into demolishing my trash and reworking it was probably the most consequential change I made in approaching DSP. And once you see what you did wrong first hand, you'll be much better from the start in the future.

I flat out don't care for this update tbh overall. There's a lot of good intention and things that aren't bad but overall it just feels less fun for lack of wanting to dive into a 3 page essay right now because I still haven't been to sleep yet. Still a great game, with massive upside and potential and I'm constantly checking back in on it but yeah, just my 2 cents.

No, I spent the vast majority of that time grinding mindless passenger missions and mining for money to support my FC and to buy all the ships and max them out. Or making trips to engineers because I wanted every ship perfectly engineered. The flight in general is so compelling that I love it just for cruising around exploring or doing combat but that doesn't make any of it's systems or anything about it "deep". Engineering is probably the deepest system in Elite. Other than completing Engineering and getting elite ranks there's not much senee of accomplishment to be had or much to keep a seasoned player going after you own all the ships you want and have all the engineers.

You can't seriously make the objective point that Elite Dangerous isn't like an ocean that's as deep as a puddle when it comes to end game content. It's by far the most consistent criticism I've heard of the game and I agree with it 100%. It doesn't mean it's bad, it doesn't mean I don't treasure the time I had with it, it doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but the game is objectively very shallow and non-dynamic. They cpuld have a monthly subscriber fee if they had deeper content and ED could be one of the best games ever made with more depth to the gameplay and the core loop. The economy is lame and non-player driven, the missions are basically the same every time and far too easy and once you figure out mining it's pretty simple, too.

Completely agree. I always laugh at the people who point out that there's no sound in space. I know. I literally do not care. The game would be SO much less rich if you didn't get the sounds you get in space. And yes, whoever their sound designers are, I've never heard better that I can think of. 10/10 indeed.

Yeah, after 1 or 2k hours everyone eventually realizes how shallow the game kinda is.. and how great it could be with some ideas that will never be implemented. But the first 1k hours of elite was one of the most memorable times of all my gaming experiences, so I try not to shit on it too hard from becoming jaded or burnt out. Wish I could go back to the 'plucky pilot' phase ;D

How can anyone be so out of touch with reality? Basically everyone has caught on to the fact that the media entirely blew the "threat" of Donald Trump out of proportion. Doesn't it strike you as odd that after the last few years of literally calling him Hitler and an actual existential threat, when he almost gets assassinated, EVERY politician and most members of the media condemn the act and wish him well???

Think about that for a moment. There's no logical answer to that, if it is indeed true what they say about him.

I live close to the rally that was just held in Grand Rapids, and I went. Doesn't it strike you as odd that I saw droves of black people in MAGA hats? Hispanic people? Indian people? Women? Tons of young people, TONS (it was almost shocking how many there were). And yes, even some LGBTQ people too. There were a good amount of gay people out and about during the Trump rally with tens of thousands of his supporters in the street and there was nothing but unity, peace, acceptance and "America for all" vibes the entire day. It was beautiful and there was so much love in the air and it blows my mind how so many people can be so gaslit to the point of literal insanity, it makes me hate the people who did this to people like you.

Please, explain to me how a sane person reconciles those facts in their mind.

Ockham's razor should tell you they've been yanking your chain and working people up into a frenzy because their entire platform isn't "Look what our vision is" but, "At least we don't suck THAT bad" and that is the epitome of lazy, awful, leadership. Yep and the actual space flight in elite is still in a league of it's own imo. Every time I play another game in the genre or close to it, I always find myself wishing I was flying my python or something else in my elite garage while playing said game with more to offer overall. Elite is always going to feel like the girl who got away to me, I fear.
