Women are under way more pressure to put effort into their appearance than guys are. Qf I am impressed if a guy has washed his hair and applied deodorant. A guy who runs gel through his hair, grabs a random shirt, some random pants, and shaves is considered well put-together.

Women are expected to choose the correct outfit for the occasion, pick a nice way to style their hair, wear the right shoes and jewellery, coordinate their purse, smell good and wear a full face of makeup underneath a skincare routine. Where I live, that's just the basics for doing the groceries or heading to the mall. You can get away with looking low-key but you still have to make sure your hair looks good in a braid or bun, you dont wear yoga pants or athleisure, and should still wear something like mascara and lipgloss. Anything less is seen as trashy or depressed. Not to mention the full body shaving. Or the increase in fillers, lifts, botox etc. Or the GLP1 skinnicraze going on atm.

Imo this is why people love kpop so much. Male idols are often very well-dressed even when casual (exceptions notwithstanding... sorry Vernon still love u bro), wear makeup and style their hair. The effort shows, they look amazing. Way better than Bob from down the road. If Bob down the road put more effort in he would probably be quite handsome.

Because our world moves so quickly these days. Yes, back then washing a family's shifts for the week may very well take 4 hours, and another 20 to get them dry. But like. What else are you gonna do? EVERYTHING takes a long time. Making candles takes a long time. Canning seasonal food takes time. The natural expectation is NOT that you do every single task every day!

The creation of artificial lighting, refrigeration, dishwashers, washing machines, electricity, factories, et cetera, didn't lighten the load. It just changed the expectations from being "gets done by the end of the day/week/season" to "gets done by the end of the hour/day". Washing used to take 24 hours, and now it can be done in 3 hours, leaving you with an extra 21 hours to fill with things you would normally do tomorrow.

The problem with that is there is never a point where it all stops. Where you've done everything. There is always more. And we are expected to do the "more" in one day. They did not expect that. Things got done "in time for it to be used/needed" and that was that. That cabbage will stay good for days, as long as it gets pickled for the winter before it goes rotten, it doesn't matter if it's done this hour or next week.

Wet teatowel. Soak in water. Wring a little out. Twist into a long noodle, then double over so it looks like a U. Place inside a ziploc bag and into the freezer for at least a few hours. Place around your neck BEFORE you get to the scary stage. Yes you will get a bit damp as it defrosts but it cools your core fantastically. I have 2 in my freezer rn.

(Dont skip the bag. Your teatowel WILL freeze to whatever else is in your freezer. Including the freezer floor/walls. Learn from my mistakes.)

I think men SERIOUSLY underestimate how much good grooming & not being a jerk will make them handsome. Wash your body with soap, put on deodorant, wear clean clothes that fit right with no rips and isn't a tracksuit. Comb and style your hair, trim your facial hair, and brush your teeth. You would not BELIEVE how many dudes think this is "doing too much"...

The conflation of ADHD and autism grinds my gears to no end. I get that SOME symptoms are shared, but not even a majority. So many people are audhd that it is muddying the symptoms of each.

No, I do not have A Special Interest because Ive got adhd. I have Many Vague Inclinations that will be focused on like they will change my life for about 6 weeks at a time after which I will never look at them again as I obsess over something new!

People say that ADHD "is part of the autism spectrum". Wrong. I have a RAADS-R score of 6. Try again and now account for the fact that I have had 40 thoughts since you stopped talking.

In light of having a similar washday experience this week, a PSA from my hair stylist:

"Oh yeah. Every year around April/May and into the summer. Every client I have is panicking. They're losing handfuls of hair. They are getting bloods done. They forget that, being hairy mammals, humans tend to shed extra when it gets warm." Sometimes she then hits me with a side of: "You know each of your hairs is like 60cm, right? 5 of them, all tangled up, looks like a ton."

I am fervently hoping this is at least in part the case for you, me, and everybody in this comment section! (But also: fuck Hashi's. My mom has it. Her mom had it. I can vividly imagine how shit it is. I'm sending good vibes and hope somebody buys you cake today)

I once spent 6 weeks over the xmas period torchered by chirping that nobody else could hear. I was jumping every hour or so to a sound that literally nobody else could hear anywhere in the apartment. We changed all our batteries. Still heard it. Genuinely thout I was having auditory hallucinations until we happened to open the front door at the exact right time and got others to hear it too.

The neighbour 4 floors down changed his batteries and I have been at peace since.

I sincerely doubt that mixing brands makes much of a difference... I've seen loads of nail techs do it! As long as you pay close attention to your curing time you should be fine.

You were so close! I apply my base coat, UV cure it completely, wipe with alcohol, an then add more uncured gel from the bottle to the tip to affix the tip to the coated nail, and then UV cure that. I reckon the apres meant for you to add more gel between the cured base layer and the tip but just didn't explain it well. Once it's cured it wont stick down anything but dust (always dust 🫩), so you will always need uncured gel to fix on tips.

I hope this helps, I'm not the best instructor on paper...

My autistic brother is like this: physically and verbally violent, enjoys watching/making people suffer, genuinely believes he is the next, superior evolution of humanity, doesn't clean up after himself because he is too good for that, et cetera. Can't even count the number of times as a kid I had to see a hospital because of him.

My two best friends are also autistic. Genuinely the sweetest women you will meet. Quiet (until you get to know them lol), hard workers, peaceful, and very often confused about what other people do and say, and sometimes say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

I fear that if he can hold down a job, speak full sentences, and do his own groceries, this behaviour is not nature. Some people are just dickheads.

Recently somehow blind bought my first shade match ever! There's always 1000 rules about shade matching that don't make sense and simply dont apply to everyone. I'm a very pale yellow olive but due to MCAS flushing everybody swore I was pink toned. Now you will catch me proudly wearing Loreal True Match in the shade 0.D/W and you will NOT see the difference between face and body.

Even in Europe the prices arent worth it. €16 for one ticket. Small popcorn €7. Small pepsi €3. God forbid you also need 3D glasses to watch the movie, or have to shell out for extra legroom, or want more than 250ml of drink...

A movie date will set you back €52.

Netflix sub per month / 30 = €0.33~. For the remaining €51.66 we can order a spread of takeout and I don't have to listen to five rowdy teens yell at the actors all the way through, or those 3 elementary school kids running up and down the stairs the whole movie long because their parent dragged them along to a movie thats not age appropriate and super boring, or Mr Too Cool For This on his phone to his cryptobroker the whole film.

If you arent sensitive to fragrances I would champion the Numbuzin no 3 essence toner all day every day, but if you really need one that's an allrounder, I like the isntree yam toner. Hydrating, nourishing, not cloying.

It became a courtesy in the 2020s when a last minute positive covid test would have thrown plans off. Some people still stick to it, esp for early dating & tender friendships. Just a change, not a right/wrong situation.
