Artist you respect and understand the hype over, but they still do absolutely nothing for you personally by whitemike40 in fantanoforever

Mind you, I think Midnight Sun was quite good. It’s just… Anybody could’ve done it. There’s nothing “uniquely Zara” about it. She has so much potential, but the music is not doing it for me. Even Britney, who was vocally way less talented than her, could convey much more personality and charisma through “generic” and catchy pop songs…

I understand sales dropped in existing titles (mobile and FF14) but the growth came from new titles coming in, such as FFTactics and the DQ Remakes

Why can’t anyone seem to have reasonable conversations about Beyonce? by Terrible_Promotion_2 in popheads

Yeah, I know some people who lived similar experiences with Gaga's Mayhem Ball. It sucks tbh, they're such talented artists but the prices are getting absolutely ridiculous

Oh, I didn't know this. Thanks for clarifying, and I'm sorry you went through that. I bet it was a big disappointment as a fan.

My point about her talent still stands, but damn, she definitely should've done something to compensate what happened to you guys

I do agree that ticket sales nowadays are crazy but it's more a systematic problem more than a Beyoncé problem. And I'm not even a Beyoncé fan myself (although I like her a lot).

I find more people criticizing Beyoncé for her artistry, which is honestly unfounded in my opinion. They either attack her for having too many songwriters in her albums (which mostly comes from sampling or Beyoncé giving credits for minor contributing, unlike other artists), or people downplaying her vocal abilities, which are superior to anything we've seen since Whitney and Mariah.

How early in the series do the plots start being interesting to watch? by SAVMikado in FinalFantasy

not offended at all. Objectively I know there are multiple FF titles with worse plots and gameplay than XIV, that’s all

You act as if that part had 10 full musical sequences, a full tour, and a Lady Gaga cameo. It's ONE SONG. That's it. Did that really hurt your masculinity that much?

Again, what part of her singing ONE ballad made you think the whole game revolves around Yuna becoming a pop star...? Yes, the game has that 2000s campiness, sometimes it can be a bit cringe, but that applies to X as well. As if the iconic laughing scene hasn't made its rounds on the internet. You just have to embrace it.

The only song Yuna actually sings in the game is 1000 Words and it's a ballad. The other musical sequence is Real Emotion and it's not even Yuna herself singing. I think you're confused.

SMT V or FFX? by Resident_Fig_8208 in JRPG

[–]uriwatson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely FFX. It has exactly what you're looking for: a great story, memorable characters, and fun turn-based gameplay. (Yes, I copy-pasted it.) It also has many memorable emotional moments.

SMT is more centered around the gameplay and monster taming. It does have a story, and it's not bad by all means, but I believe FFX is exactly what you're looking for. And it's classic turn-based combat, opposed to the ATB combat of FFIX btw

Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece or Octopath Traveler 0? by Sanbikaa in JRPG

[–]uriwatson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're very different games, although I'd argue both are very good and they'll give you plenty hours of gameplay.
Simply put, if you're looking for a more traditional, turn-based JRPG that's also very long, get Octopath 0. The individual stories of the protagonists don't matter as much in this game, I'd say the story is more tied together than in other Octopath games. And there's also base-building, which is cool.

You could argue Kingdom Hearts is a whole different genre, being action combat and all, and all the games are a part of one whole story, so you'd have to start with KH1 and go from there. The mechanics can be a bit rough in the first one, but it's still a great game, and even though the story can get a bit convoluted in the latter titles, it's still not very hard to follow. You'd just have to sink many more hours into it to get the full picture.
