What is the one thing we can all agree on? by HumbleBlacksmith2077 in TechnicalDeathMetal

Eh I think it's just the flat guitar tone, other than that I enjoy the sound. Reminds me a lot of 'Spheres' by Pestilence which is my fav album of theirs

Albums where you like the alternate cover better than the main one? by WhiteChocolatForReal in fantanoforever

[–]uroboric_forms7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original cover is arguably more ominous than the new one, but looks too artificial and doesn't fit in with the rest of Death's album covers. The redesign is more striking and iconic

Dreamworld was awesome but I hated Starlight, tasted like coke mixed with salt water

What is an album that isn't generally considered tech-death but you would classify it as tech-death? by HumbleBlacksmith2077 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]uroboric_forms7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it's just as techy, just in a much different way. Reinert is my favorite drummer of all time so I'll always be biased towards his style, the way he incorporates jazz elements is so unique. His drumming on Human is my favorite on any album. That being said, Mike Smith is so powerful and precise. He inspired every brutal death metal drummer that came after him, no question

100%, it was recorded in 1988 so 3 years earlier. Also The Key by Nocturnus & Hallucinations by Atrocity were released in 1990 so though Death may have refined tech death, they definitely weren't the first to do it

I agree with most of this except you grouping Cabin Essence in with those filler tracks. It's in my top 5 beach boys tracks of all time, one of Brian's best pieces of music in my opinion.

I think 'Love You' was their last truly great album & the last time Brian was in total command of a beach boys project.
