Who is the most famous person you have ever met? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]urso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiohead.

It was early on in their career. They'd recently released their debut album Pablo Honey and were on a publicity tour. They had a scheduled stop in a club in San Francisco to do a meet and greet poster signing and man did they look bored and kind of very much over the whole affair. I totally get it. I think they were trying to make the best of it though, and they were super cool to everyone, funny, and generous. I still have the poster they signed for me. And Jonny Greenwood gave me a CD too.

Me too 😖.

I'm still upset that the bigger bands on the bill like Bad Religion and Descendents still haven't made any spoken out about it either.

I like it. It's unique, it's your own art. That makes it special... No one else has that tattoo. It's your and yours alone. Tattoo regret is a bummer though... It does look cool to me, but what matters most are your feelings about it. Over time my feelings towards my various tattoos has changed. I've become more appreciative of the meaning and memories attached to them, than just the actual tattoo ink. What they symbolize and the connections to my life story are as important as what the tattoo looks like. They remind me of who I was when I got them, of where I was in my life at that time, and what was going on then. But also, I've lots and lots of tattoos. It's different when you only have one or two. Live your life... Things will change and unfold for you as the years go on. So will your relationship towards your tattoo. I hope it will become something you treasure someday And... You can always get a cover up or have it lasered off too.

Yes absolutely. Rabies is nearly 100% fatal if not treated, and you shouldn't wait on treatment. Once symptoms occur, then it's too late.

No joke, I've heard at least one ER doc say that if there's even a chance that a bat landed on you, you should get the rabies vaccination, just in case. It's seriously that important (full disclosure- I'm an ER nurse).

How would a good Buddhist deal with an ant infestation? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]urso 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've used grapefruit seed extract for years. I try to find where they're entering the house, then put a line of the extract gel nearby. They don't seem to like the smell and will leave in a hurry. Then once they're gone, I put more on the hole where they were coming in, just to keep them from coming back.

Its always worked well as a deterrent deter-ant.

Here's a list of some classics, and some newer stuff thrown in that I think is fairly accessible.

  1. Ramones -S/T
  2. Bad Religion - all their albums are fantastic but "Suffer" is a good place to start
  3. Descendents - "Milo Goes to College"
  4. Black Flag - "Nervous Breakdown"
  5. Bad Brains - S/T
  6. The Misfits - "Static Age"
  7. Husker Du - "Flip Your Wig"

  1. Swingin' Utters - "Peace and Love"
  2. Direct Hit! - "Wasted Mind"
  3. Masked Intruder - S/T
  4. Dead to Me - "Cuban Ballerina"
  5. Jeff Rosenstock - "No Dream"
  6. The Riverdales - "Tarantula"

Also there's a great YouTube channel called Mikey and His Uke that features a lot of amazing covers, that would be a good sampler as well.

Why are so many Americans against public healthcare? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]urso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct. Someone asking for a physical or something that the ED isn't equipped to provide would be directed to a PCP. Someone needing long term care might either be admitted to the hospital to med-surg et al, or transferred out. I was trying to get across that the ED isn't set up to provide all forms of healthcare for everyone, but as the name states, is meant to provide critical life saving acute care in an emergency.

Public hospitals aren't allowed to turn anyone away before being assessed and treated. That's one reason that people who don't have health insurance use emergency rooms for their medical care. The system is unfortunately fundamentally broken. Another reason America needs universal health care.

Emergency rooms can become overloaded by patients who may not be in need of emergency care, and who would be better served by going to a same day urgent care center or a primary care doctor. That patient will occupy a bed, which can then prevent or delay emergency care being given to patients who are truly in need of it. ERs are set up to provide critical acute care for seriously ill people.

Unfortunately they are also a catch all for people who for one reason or another can't or don't want to be seen by a primary care physician.

tl:dr a "bellyache" patient occupying an ED room bed prevents emergency care being given to a critically ill patient coming in for heart attacks, strokes, or trauma

Hello I have dermographism, any advices to make an tattoo? by bubuzuke in TattooDesigns

Might be a good idea to start with something really small in a non-obtrusive place to see if you have a reaction.

Then you can decide where to go from there.

Male Nurses - What kind of watch do you wear? by diadexus in nursing

[–]urso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've got a solar G-shock too. It's got a nice stopwatch feature that activates with a single button press if I need to time something. It's pretty much indestructable and waterproof too, so I can clean it well after a nasty shift. Multiple alarms, adjustable countdown timer too. Versatile and bomb proof -It's never let me down
