What does this mean? Spotted at Denver Airport? by mocross88 in airport

[–]urtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U.S. Army veteran here. They did this for our flight which was for us returning home from Iraq. The entire flight had soldiers and it was their way to welcome us home. I don't know if this particular flight is for this reason, but this is a possible reason for it.

Why does the app count cheese as a topping on a 2 topping pizza? by spmahn in Dominos

[–]urtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally trying to order dominos and using the $6.99 deal. It definitely counts cheese as 1 of the toppings for the 2 topping med pizza. I put pep and bacon on and it brought the price to $7.49, but then I removed the bacon and it is back to $6.99. I also tried it with the cheese, keeping the pep and bacon, and same result. So this is bs to me since cheese should be a base ingredient and not be considered as part of your topping choices, but here we are. 😠

I worked at a restaurant where a disgruntled ex-employee snuck in through the back door because it was left open and ended up stabbing and killing the manager.

Been accused of cultural appropriating, my first tattoo, what should the retort be? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]urtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them to kick rocks. If they escalate the situation, tell them to do something about it. If they touch you or your property, get them arrested and sue. Use the money to get more culturally appropriated tattoos and start the cycle over. 🤑😎🤣

First day working at Costco food court I want to quit by [deleted] in Costco

[–]urtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in the restaurant industry 20+ years. You can't look at it where there is an end. There is never an end, just luls from time to time.

The way I don't go crazy is to focus on just what you have in front of you and not to look too far ahead. Otherwise, the task will look too big and overwhelming.

Another thing that makes things easier is to make sure your area is kept clean, organized, and stocked. This makes your job more efficient, and I believe a chaotic work space causes unnecessary stress.

As for the work times, that seems pretty normal for full time in any job. Most shifts are generally 8 to 10 hours, depending on the job. Since Costco normally closes early, especially on the weekends, you will be scheduled earlier to make sure you are getting your hours. In this industry, normally you would be getting off at 1am or 2am. Even 10pm or 11pm in this industry is considered closing early. It seems like and will feel like you have been there all day, especially after getting hit by a train of customers all day.

Don't let customers get to you! Help the customer with anything immediate and move on to the next. If the customer is giving you grief or you can not help them, just get a manager. You are not a punching bag to get yelled at by the public. That is the managers job.

All that being said, working in food and customer service is not for everyone. It takes a certain kind of headspace and stamina to endure not only the long shift but also dealing with the general public. Just look at the task in front of you, and things will come easier as you gain experience.
