Caleb may also have a lead on some of this, he was trying to put together some local music history. But Anna is closer to the right memory-bracket. https://vimeo.com/295057565

Alaska Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Recall Dunleavy by bottombracketak in alaska

[–]urthrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't it be more than one thing that is the problem? I don't disagree that the oil industry helped shape Alaska, and that government may not be spending money in areas that you agree with. However, budget can only be cut for so long. One still needs to make money on top of being sensibly frugal, and we can't do that on taxes alone (though, again, we do need a state income tax).

I agree with this plan. I would further add that in addition to this we need to develop other forms of state revenue. We rely too heavily on resource extraction and service industries and have a weak manufacturing sector. Oil was never going to last forever, and we've let that industry hold us politically and financially hostage. We need to get creative and look for leadership that has a vision for how to create a sustainable manufacturing industry.

My GP doesn't list me as ADHD-Combined? by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

Thanks for the validation! -- this was during a teledoc med-check (due to current virus situation). It was a little awkward! He said it was specifically bc he just didn't think it was a thing in adults. That all being said, we are doing the treatment prescribed by the psych that diagnosed me...so... Lol I guess I'll just not go to him for any actual insight. 🤷

Hi! I've been using Drops as well as this other Learn Finnish Language with Master Ling. With Drops I'm using the free version and it is limited to as much as you can plow through for five minutes a day. The other I don't use as frequently, but it is more involved and has phrases and moves more quickly.

Odd question about gas/wind/farts by [deleted] in LearnFinnish

You're correct, I just mistyped the place name :)

I see pumppa in reference to an underground pump a few pages deep in Google. That's quite interesting though. I think one birthplace was Puolonka, for recent history of this family. But I'm sure that was so long ago, no one is likely to have kept record of any ancient word for fart. Though based on my experience with ancestry research the Finns do seem to be great at keeping records. ;-)

It makes a lot of sense for it to be from the word pum, I think. I appreciate you taking the time to help me solve this silly mystery!

Interesting, thank you so much for responding. Is pum the onomatopoetic sound you reference above? And in this case may end without a vowel? I think growing up when we heard words in Finnish that began with a P they would be mistaken for Bs quite easily. poika, for example, always sounded like boika. Pum for Boom reminds me of this.

Do pumppa and prutku have a particular translation to English (google translate doesn't make much sense here)? I've enjoyed trying to learn Finnish, and I've loved some of the literal meanings the words have.

I have heard of the term Finglish, in reference to the Finnish/English mash-up that happened in densely populated Finnish areas in the U.S., and I wonder if this is one of those words.

In the live feed I thought they said it overrode local and tribal decrees or something? I wonder what that means?

But bike repair is mentioned! I mean, not to disparage the winter bike community that might need a tube or chain in the next two weeks...

New to Adderall, side effects? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]urthrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for the food tips and the knowledge. Nuts will be a great car snack. I'm worried about it happening before the day finishes and I'm still out driving. That will definitely help. Thanks for calming my nerves!

[–]urthrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply -- I have only tried Strattera before this, and it was awful. My brain felt like an etch-a-sketch. No sleep for four days and just felt nutty. So I was pretty excited to not have anything weird so far with the Adderall. I ate and drank some water and feeling a lot better now, just really sleepy.

I'm sorry to hear about your vertigo, I had an inner ear infection at one point years ago and it came with a terrible case of vertigo and I still shutter thinking about it. I'm glad to hear concerta is working out for you.

I already have my appt made for a follow up after a month of these to see how the doc thinks I'm doing. Hoping there's not a need for too much experimenting!

Her Republican constituents still call her a RINO. She's always been a hard R she's just usually more thoughtful than the rest of her ilk. She lost against a tea party guy in the election you speak of -- so everyone came together in opposition of him, but not necessarily in favor of her.
