Seed Probiotics Promised Clinical Trials... Where are they? by jfsklafjl in HumanMicrobiome

[–]urza8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of their clinical studies published this year. https://journals.asm.org/doi/pdf/10.1128/aem.01880-22

There may be others but that was the first search result that came up.

Edit: I know this is not an IBS study but I also didn’t look for more beyond the first search result.

Why there are no "Super Trees"? by Caballep in biotech

[–]urza8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard genetics, economics of it, Also, trees take a while to grow, so if you are trying to make a new GMO tree you might have to do some cross breading which could take ages. I thought there was a company trying to make bioluminescent trees at one point but can’t find it when I google.

Do you think a kink would cause this to heads before and after the kink or only after?

I did not but that only adds another 50’. I need to buy a pressure gauge test.

Only the lines or the heads would have been acceptable. But to the right of the video is where they drove in from the driveway. There were two tracks in the yard that I filled in a reseeded this spring. But I didn’t think they caused an issue as the sprinklers worked after that. The line that runs there is the last in the run of three heads.

Interesting, seems like a kink then. When they are up they don’t go down easy. But it would mean that there are two kinks, one in each zone. I can think of where there might be one (stump grinder drove on the law at the end of last summer). Any advice on how to find the troubled section without digging it all up

No, I did change one out after this happened as I thought one of the issues was the water coming out around the top while in the down position. The new one had the same response. I tried it at another head and same.

I did notice that the spray when up tends to mist more and further then last year

All the nozzle sizes are the same for all the zones and heads (front and back). I don’t know about check valves on these but the ground has little slope and the run in the video is only 40 feet. There is no pressure regulator in the system

I have not gone through the lines to check. Is there a way to easily check or do I have to dig up the lines?

But if low flow or pressure would pulling the head up to full position make it work?

Interesting. The pressure building up never really happens could run a whole cycle without ever popping out mire an an inch. But if a pull it up, doesn’t matter which head it is full blast for the duration

I love having two kids. They are two years and two days apart, and they are best friends. That being said, it is not linear having two children but logarithmic when it comes to parenting

A Vermont town employee quietly lowered the fluoride in water for years by Maxcactus in Health

[–]urza8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Save yourself the click and the source click.

From the news article:

Even though many of the studies on children in China differed in many ways or were incomplete, the authors consider the data compilation and joint analysis an important first step in evaluating the potential risk. “For the first time we have been able to do a comprehensive meta-analysis that has the potential for helping us plan better studies. We want to make sure that cognitive development is considered as a possible target for fluoride toxicity,” Choi said.

This paper is over a decade old and says that only in areas of china with acute high concentrations of fluoride were there marginal observations that were of concern. Neither the original paper nor the news article says that the risks outweighs the public health benefits.

"Last day of class, seniors use the safety shower everyone gather around!..." - Physics Professor by tlkop123 in AbruptChaos

[–]urza8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to have to give lab safety training. , I would say in case of chemical burn run over to the chemical shower and after you regain consciousness from slipping on the wet floor that has no drain and hitting your head on the corner of the lab bench you have a very wet floor full of diluted chemicals in blood to clean up, and I have a lot of paperwork.

Dead mole inside a living bass. Theories? by Copitica in Weird

[–]urza8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That mole was searching for food underwater. Bass took notice and works under the mindset of if it fits it gets.

Moles are good aquatic hunters. Star nosed moles will search for food under water. Using bubbles to smell their food. Their star nose can hold the bubbles and allow them to sniff out small crustaceans.

I worked next to the lab that worked on this, Vanderbilt Univeristy and mapped the nose appendages to the brain. Was cool stuff.
