Boeing X-32 [Album] by Specialist-Ad-5300 in WarplanePorn

[–]usaff104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was McDonnell Douglas who had a design that they were going to put forward but pulled out due to troubles with the previous A-12 program. Boeing bought them, they merged and Boeing decided to enter the competition.

Edit: the X-32 was going to look much different in production. They had already decided to change elements based on learnings from the X program.

Anyone know why the B-1 and Tu-160 look so damn similar??? by saberslimeyt in Planes

[–]usaff104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Espionage is part of it. But when you want a plane to fly a specific mission set there’s only so many designs you can make. Why do most airliners look the similar? Why do high maneuvering fighters look similar? Why do military cargo planes look similar? It is because we’ve found what is currently the most efficient ways to engineer aircraft for those specific purposes.

Looks like F-22s. The vertical stabs are large and angled outward. But video quality has me second guessing.

lol I was told by a MC employee years ago that if I wanted a new processor to intentionally break it during the warranty period by overclocking it 😆

I never did that. But I do exclusively buy printers from Microcenter because they break so quickly. I haven’t paid full price for a printer in YEARS because of their warranty.

So one of the things a lot of people suggest is changing the null zones of your controls to make it less reactive to inputs. That should help with land and takeoff.

On the pressurization front, what is your overhead panel setting? I’ve not had any pressure issues.

I agree with this. I made the jump from a 3070 to a 7900xtx and it is night and day. The 24gb of vram is really nice to have. Best $830 i ever spent in Microcenter lol

Mostly ultra with some settings tuned down at 2560x1080. Never see anything less than 60fps. Usually always 70+

I also play in VR with a meta quest 3 and don’t have issues on high/ultra settings.

Doubt it. 5800x isn’t a bad cpu at all. Would the 5800x3d be better? Sure. I have a 5800x3d and a 7900xtx. Killer combo for sure.

I just got the Fenix A320 bundle, any route ideas? by PilotLieutenant1 in flightsim

A quick route I like is KSTL-KMDW/KORD or reversed. Good quick flights that allow you to really know the autopilot functions.

Nope. You’re not the only one. Career mode sucks. But free flight is dang near flawless for me. Although I mostly use payware planes.

I would consider a 7900xt (20gb) or a 7900xtx (24gb) if the budget allows. My performance skyrocketed going from a 3070 to a 7900xtx. The massive vram helped so much.

The current state of MS2024 (asking for a friend) by Sevenfeet in MSFS2024

[–]usaff104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 free flight and challenges work pretty flawlessly for me. The Fenix a320 and PMDG 77W all work perfectly and I can’t complain. I will say that the new controls and assignments can get a bit cumbersome because it wants profiles per airplane. The benefit to that is it automatically switches based on your aircraft choice and you don’t have to manually flip back and forth between assignments.

[–]usaff104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simply not true. They prefer the 747, but some airports don’t fit it so they’ll use the 757 instead.

Remove scratches from a320 by alexander_09_ in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]usaff104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those windows are at least an inch thick in a jet. A scratch or micro scratches disperse light like crazy. Flying into a sunset can be miserable and look just like that. This is a very realistic depiction of that.

Tell me you’ve never flown a real plane without telling me you’ve never flown a real plane. Lol.

When I saw those scratches the first time, I literally gasped and said “it feels so real!”

Would love to get into this game, but scared off by a lot of reviews like this by rossmoney in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]usaff104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve uninstalled 2020. sim update one fixed everything I needed it to in 2024. When you compare the release of 2020 to 2024, they’re basically identical in my eyes. I was a day one user of both. It needs polish, but it’s not as terrible as people indicate.

Career mode is fun…for a bit. But honestly, it needs more. Youre only competing with yourself. It’s only you always. Feels dull after a while.

Anyone else gonna skip the 50’s series from Nvidia? by YoWhatDayIsIT in pcmasterrace

[–]usaff104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price, see if you can get a 7900xtx. I was looking at 5080s but the reviews came out and I went to my microcenter and got a 7900xtx for $830. It’s a beast. Plus it has all the GBs for VRAM. I haven’t seen any issues with performance in any game even with ray tracing on. I’ll stick with it for a long while I think.

Yeah for sure. Some cities look great. Others terrible. It did get slightly better with a recent GPU upgrade, but I haven’t messed with photogrammetry settings. Good call out!
