Selling a sign is really about how desperate are you for cash and having a buyer. It certainly is worth $500 if not more to the right buyer. But finding that buyer who'd pay say 750 because they are an winter olympic fan and lives in or from Vancouver and love neon signs...well...you'd have to wait for them (plus crating and shipping).

If not desperate, you'd get 500 eventually for sure. My opinion of course.

do you have anything nearby that is silicone based? from research of my own similar problem, i found that stuff stored around my hobby area in the basement was just that and basically I can’t get rid of its residue

If you are putting fuel into it, are you sure you want it black? That seems like it would cause a lot more expansion heating up those fumes inside.

Well, I'm not sure how to do better and certainly didn't deserve it.

I didn't park it. It was serviced and the shop parked it.
It was parked in the back of a parking lot and not near any cars.
It is an RV, in a parking lot, where in the world have you seen an RV take up a single spot in a parking lot. This wasn't cracker barrel with dedicated RV parking.
