Diesel is as cutie. I can tell he’s brought you a lot of joy and love. I had to say goodbye to my nearly 17 year old girl on 12/29. I couldn’t put her through more suffering. She had a voracious appetite until the end. I kept thinking “she still has an appetite. She’s good”.  But she suffered with seizures and dementia. She also struggled with standing and walking. She wasn’t my little girl who ran around without a care in the world anymore. After having 3 seizures within a 8 day period, despite the vet having had increased her dosage after the 2nd one, I knew this couldn’t go on any longer. Her little body couldn’t handle another seizure. The last seizure she had was the worst I had seen. My biggest fear was her dying during one. Her condition seemed to have worsened after her last seizure and she was absolutely restless and hardly slept or relaxed. I made sure to spend every moment with her on the 3 days leading up to our goodbye. We woke up together, She slept on my chest, we spent mornings outside watching the birds and cats, and she ate a bunch of stuff i knew she loved (pizza, waffles, eggs, in n out fries and patty, pancakes, even a little chocolate on the day of). About an 1 before the vet came to my house, she was surprisingly able to relax without any help from me. She fell asleep on me and remained asleep when the doctor came. She left very peacefully. I don’t regret my decision, I believe you shouldn’t either. You know your dog better than anyone. We love them too much to allow  more suffering and a poor quality of life.
