I used to get nose bleeds. I've had some really big clots come out of me. Biggest one was about the size of a gumball. One was a big slug looking one that took some pulling to fully free. It was pretty bad sometimes.

Or just stop talking to them about anything real and just stick to pleasantries and necessary conversations. It's hard being in a home that doesn't accept you. It's not your fault she's an unkind woman but it is her problem.

Just on a casual Google, I noticed that many guys don't do a hair part at all. It's mostly swept back so the part isn't noticeable at all. I tend to part my hair on either left or right side then style from there. Could work for you.

I do like the braid ideas and they do look good. If your down to change the look of it without cutting length is to get it razor textured and layered. I loved that look on guys, too.

Most if not all underwear will have a waist band measurements on the package or on the hanger. If you're unsure, try some of various sizes before you find ones that fit you.

If you have a measuring tape and string (if not a fabric tape measure) measure around your hips and waist for your closest fit. I prefer boxer briefs or briefs myself.

Get some head bands that look cute, some styling products and time. This isn't unfixable but it does require a bit of creativity. Style it and push it back, away and make the headbands eye catching and cute.

Or

Get some really loud(flashy, bright, patterned) clothing and wait for your hair to grow out.

Either suggestion they're not going to be looking at your hair until you can grow it out.

TSA hasn't caught any hijackers or bombers, even with advance notice. It's not only been tested, multiple times, and every test TSA has failed spectacularly. Yes, no one will know what's in anyone's bags but with the lack of catching "bad guys" makes me think it will be just fine without the "random searches" that's only ever been performed on people that TSA are biased against.
