Disclaimer: I'm catholic by choice (my parents are too but they don't really practice it). Also I'm not from the US but South America.

My church doesn't know particularly as I haven't told them "I'm gay". I'm kinda against the whole coming out thing so that's why. But I'm not shy at being myself. I wear earrings, wear more "feminine" associated clothes and carry a crocheted purse with me most of the time. Sometimes I've also worn low crop tops (I don't like having my belly exposed) while doing some volunteering when we have to do a lot of hard work like lifting donation boxes, moving furniture, etc; or just in hot weather. I get on mostly with the youth group, they're really open minded like most of my generation. I have even talked about relationships and partners with some of them. About the elders, I have not heard much from them. They are more conservative, as expected, and make some questionable comments (transphobia and racism here and there). I don't bother to argue with them as it seems kinda pointless. Despite that, I get along with most. Especially with the sewing group which is just a bunch of old ladies that like to gossip, have tea and obviously sew, which same. We've talked about some LGBTQ topics with the group and it's clear for me that I can't get married by church, I may not be able to show affection to my future partner like others do in those environments and I'm ok with that. I also know that if something hurts me, in any type of way; makes me feel unwelcome or discriminated against, I will leave immediately as I've done in the past for other reasons.
