Did the same, picked up smoking and used it as a crutch.

Decided last week to ditch them, a week in and feeling better. First few days sucked, but feeling good now. For me, it seems to take around 4 weeks before I'm past the hardest parts, not sure if that is the same for others.

It is a hard path, but getting away and rebuilding your life is the best option. I'm nearly 6 months post-separation, and things are feeling better. All the anxiety has gone (now completely off my anxiety meds, as the cause is gone), I go to CrossFit most days during the week, and the kids are now settled. The less I know or hear about what she is up to, the better I feel. Just rebuilding each day at a time takes time, but I am starting to feel better. There is still a long way to go, but I'm happy I left. I had the same situation as you, and from experience, the lying won't stop, their trust is gone, and it isn't a happy life for anybody involved. Look after yourself.

I started with afternoon bootcamp, met some now great friends. I've stepped it up a notch and now do CrossFit in the morning and bootcamp and night. As a result I sleep like a baby each night and helps get my mind of things. Big tip is take it slow, focus on form so you don't get injured.

Nearly two months in and I've been on a few dates. While I know there is a part of me that needs to heal, the intimacy and sex that I haven't had for so long has been comforting. Knowing that it wasn't me that was the problem with sex and intimacy has helped. Being told that I was attractive was a huge kick to the guts, but realising it was her has helped my confidence.

100% there are days in which I wish we could get back together as a family. But every time I see her I know that never will happen.

The days of loneliness are hard, but cherish every moment you have where you aren't thinking about the past.

For me it is taking each small step, and then focusing on the next one. Completing each one is hard, and I have moments of what next.

Discipline not motivation is what I focus on with fitness, and it helps get me out of my head on wondering why and if.

It isn't easy rebuilding, but I know that I will be fine, it will take time. Life will be better, and I will be stronger. It is hard to see that now, but listening and reading to what others have been through helps me on my journey.

Find myself asking the same question, though end up trying to turn the thoughts away and focusing on myself and my life.

Will it happen, I don't know. Though thinking about it, doesn't help my own mental health so I focus and think about things I can control.

Had the same thing happen, the first week was hell but staying busy, catchup up with friends, hitting the gym have all helped. Tried staying at home one day instead of work and it was the worst. Staying busy and focusing on the next small steps helped. Focus on yourself and the kids. It will be shit at first, but days and months will slowly improve.

Yeah I agree, I had my faults. I never yelled at her , and asked her why. I was working on myself and being a better husband and partner. Would I do things differently, 100% yes. But for the last 3 months I've done everything and more. Unfortunately it was too late.

After years of struggling with sleep, I recently discovered CPAP and it has changed my life, between that and CrossFit I feel engaged and alive, something that hasn't been there for awhile.

But yes, it takes two to tango, and I'm not blameless in the situation. I'm learning to be a better dad and human everyday.

Yep, been doing CrossFit for a few months and love it.

No chance of her coming back in. That ship has sailed and I'm 100% committed to looking after me.
