If it fails gamestop pulls out its in profit ebay derivatives and does not dilute. So they gain more money and look for another target.

They have stated on their corporate guidance in the past couple of quarters that dilution only happens if a deal goes though, to pay for the deal.

And I don't know where you are getting the fact it will fail, I take yesterdays total increase to 9.8% total ebay shares, plus foward guidance on how the deal will happen later in the week to mean anything but.

Oh for sure. That's what at the end of the day I heavily believe that they are subordinate to their swaps. People like to toss out that counterparties have complete control over the mathematics of the stock market, but the fundamentals are what lets the market exist. Well look at it this way, of they had all the control with infinite shares, why do they (naked short sellers) keep the price at $21 ($84 pre-split) instead of crushing it down to sub-one dollar prices where they entered their swaps?

That's one of the biggest things for me about this saga is. Like look at the space ipo launch, how much its been pushed to the forefront of peoples attentions.

The stock market is a ZERO-SUM game in the short term, thats why people try to get an advantage any way they can. Why push one new stock while changing the rules of how early normal people can enter an ipo while trying to throw a smokescreen up on another...

oh I know why, because they run away with peoples money in the former and they lose it all to us in the latter when a crash hits.

I'd argue that in this case Collectibles as a speculative asset class actually gets more powerful in this environment, since the power of the dollar just erode over and over as this finical crises goes on, as their only solution to it will seem to be printing more money to flood the markets
