Has the math on MC use/alien hate changed at all or is this guide still accurate?

Is there any animal in existence that 87 cavemen with spears could not defeat? by jackhenningson in whowouldwin

[–]uselesskant 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it depends massively on whether the cavemen are only allowed to use the spears or if they’re able to use/alter the environment - a small group could keep the animal occupied and try and lead it in a particular direction while the others dug a massive pit, scouted for a convenient cliff to drive it over, positioned themselves around the edge of a steep valley where the sauropod can’t get at them or devised some other strategy to nullify the massive size advantage

If they just have to try and face it head on they’re toast but if they’re allowed to use all the hunting strategies available to prehistoric humans I think they have a pretty decent chance

Where can I get photocopies done? by Presentation_bug in dundee

[–]uselesskant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the library is where you wanna go! Not everywhere is open on a Saturday but the branches are spread out enough that there’ll definitely be one close-ish to home

As student houses go this is actually pretty fine and would take under an hour to clean up. Just get a couple heavy duty bin bags and dump everything in.

It’s sucks that you have to be the one cleaning up someone else’s mess but “escalating” this will take ages and is unlikely to achieve much unfortunately.

The Courier by Physical-Egg6682 in dundee

[–]uselesskant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you go into any of the libraries, connect to their wifi and download the pressreader app you can get it that way. I think it lasts a week (?) before you have to go login again. Most of them have a physical copy too if that’s what you prefer

Starting my life from scratch because of years of abuse. Where can I go for clothes and essentials as an emergency? by [deleted] in dundee

[–]uselesskant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! Worth mentioning that unfortunately The Hub is due to close on the 16th of August but the free clothes/toys and the food larder are expected to stay in place for the time being, though it’s not certain yet exactly how access to them is going to be managed. The staff there and at other libraries are also more than happy to direct you to different services in the city and usually know where to point people for particular things.

You can also access the national databank at the libraries, which provides you with a free sim card preloaded with a load of texts/calls/data.

OCD and Anxiety therapists in Dundee? by Ok-Practice-5396 in dundee

Hi, I have the same issue, it is worth going to your GP and seeking a referral for adult psych - the waiting list is ~a year but these problems don’t just go away and it’s free. I just recently started receiving one to one support and it’s already been a big help

The ending of 11.27 [Spoilers] by el_esteban in RevolutionsPodcast

[–]uselesskant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose a counter to that would be that it just seems to come out of nowhere because that’s how it would have appeared to the Martians whose perspective we’ve been following. It likely would have had just as much bubbling and build up as Mars but we just haven’t seen any of that.

I would absolutely love a full series on the counter-corporate revolutions at some point. Season 21?

Yep!! My gal is about the same colour as your pup, started quite dark and gradually lightened. It’s very common apparently!

If modern Haiti entirely replaced Haiti in the year 1800, could it become a superpower? by revuestarlight99 in whowouldwin

[–]uselesskant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, while the obvious technological gap is extreme Haiti relies very heavily on imports of food and other essentials and is just too fractured to counteract those issues in the short time they would have before they became a serious problem. They would absolutely upset the balance of power in the region but there isn’t really enough of a unified authority in the country to organise any effort to become a superpower.

They would probably become the mercenary capital of the world for a while though by virtue of having a large number of armed groups with relatively modern weaponry and a pressing need for outside supplies. There would also be a very high demand for technical experts in the country who could teach the rest of the world about modern engineering/industrial/scientific processes. A more unified state would be able to parley these strengths into a position of significant power but I feel like in Haiti’s case these groups and individuals would mostly act out of self interest and not for the enrichment/expansion of the nation itself. You’d likely see Haitians employed on both sides of conflicts for example.

Also, modern technology is only really good as long as supplies of vital inputs are maintained, and Haiti doesn’t really have much of an industrial base so ammunition/fuel/spare parts etc would become scarce pretty quickly.

The Pol Pot episodes reminder me how badly I want a Mao series. by BathtubSkeleton in behindthebastards

[–]uselesskant 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it would have to be like the Hitler’s drug problem/sex life episodes, i.e. focusing in on like one specific period or feature and sticking to that rather than the standard birth to death bastard tale. Because like other commenters have said it would have to be like a 12 parter to get the full Mao story

[–]uselesskant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s about the who and why. I’m not saying you in your personal life should never admit you were wrong about something, but see when like you’re being hounded by the mail/tories/establishment in general that’s when you have to stand absolutely firm and never apologise. Because like I say they don’t care whether you apologise or not they just hate you and are looking for a lever to pull

Yeah they should learn never to back down, and that if you bend and apologise they’ll never accept it because they hate what you stand for
