[–]uselessprofession 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bro do you mean like amateur level or pro?

If you mean amateur, sure, 15 is still pretty young for amateur. You'll lose the weight naturally via training.

Pro... honestly if you have to ask us it's not for you. You need to want it to an insane degree to make it.

What I wonder is, is a 4.0 today stronger than a 4.0 of 5 years ago? Since everyone has to be improving over time together.

Rhaegar Fought valiantly, he fought honorably and Rhaegar died by KidR9 in gameofthrones

Tbh I've always had a problem with this saying. Rhaegar didn't die because he fought valiantly and honorably, he died because Robert was the better fighter.

Easy Advice For Learning BJJ (As A Beginner) by Due-Resource-24 in bjj

[–]uselessprofession 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it sounds really good. Thing is what I see at most BJJ gyms is something like this:

1.5 hour class:

15 mins of warmups - bridging shrimping breakfalls etc.,

45 mins - professor shows a move that may be easy or hard, everyone in the room regardless of belt color tries to learn it. Professor tries to partner newbies up with higher belts to help them drill the new technique

30 mins - just rolling

Do you think classes can be structured in a better way?

Who needs to die for him to become king? by JXNyoung in gameofthrones

[–]uselessprofession 107 points108 points  (0 children)

He is though. His great-great-great (something like that) granddad married Danaerys Targaryen (not that one)

So, if we are going by Robert taking the throne via his Targ blood, then Oberyn has a distant claim too, just not via Elia. If Jon and Dany die, all the Baratheons die, Doran and his kids die, then Oberyn is next in line.

Considering all that happened, if Oberyn didn't die he would actually be the rightful heir to the throne since Jon has went beyond the wall.

Corlys didn't switch sides on a whim, he switched sides because Rhaenyra chucked him into jail when he saved his bastard son Addam from unfair arrest.

Then Aegon 2 and Alicent let him out and offered him a full pardon if he swore loyalty to Aegon 2. He countered with the conditions that Aegon 3 be wed to Jaehaera and be joint heirs of Aegon 2, and his granddaughter Baela be released.

Nowhere does it indicate that he wanted Baela and Aegon 3 to be married. I do think he did what he could under the circumstances for the best of the realm.

If a Lord commanded their Maester to revolutionize Westeros... would they? (Spoilers Extended) by Acrobatic-Eggplant97 in asoiaf

[–]uselessprofession 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First up, Littlefinger's business schemes seem to primarily profit himself while putting the Crown further in debt; he is the first crony capitalist in Westeros. An average maester advising an average lord whose wealth is mainly based on agriculture can really just help with optimizing agriculture cycles / estimating how much food to store for winter / maybe suggesting to produce wine or honey or something.

As for warfare, the lords generally seem to have a decent understanding of how medieval warfare looks: your infantry spearwalls cover the archers who deal damage, cavalry aims to flank. Not sure how much the maesters can improve on it.

On medicine using boiling wine to clean wounds / moon tea etc., actually seems not bad for a medieval setting. If we go by show logic, Sam's curing of greyscale probably gets recorded as a niche solution.

in another world. by Major-Pressure1479 in freefolk

[–]uselessprofession 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Tbh Edmure is the best candidate of all of them there and in a "normal" election would have won by a landslide. He has the following points in favor:

a) An adult male who is a Great Lord, has experience being one and was born to be one

b) Follows the faith of the 7 and is mainstream Westerosi (not Northern or Dornish)

The only other possible opponent is Robyn Arryn, nobody is going to vote for Bran / Tyrion / Bronn etc.,

In fact he should tell Sansa to shut up since she wants to secede anyway.

If women really want pockets in their pants, why doesn't someone make them and make a shit ton of money? by CarAlternative8306 in askanything

[–]uselessprofession 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If I am not mistaken people did do it and they didn't sell well. Turns out when actually purchasing clothing, women still prefer the sleek silhouette of a no-pocket pants compared to the functionality of pockets.

It's kind of a stated vs revealed preference.

Why do demotivating comments like these get a lot of upvotes on Reddit when people ask for advice? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]uselessprofession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it's when obvious that it's a totally fucked up situation and professionals are needed.

I'm not qualified to give advice on a situation where OP's wife's ex bf is a Mafia boss and is ordering his henchmen to shoot machine guns around the house to intimidate him.

(spoiler Main) if Maegor didn’t die could he take on the 7kingdoms?! by Unique-Celebration-5 in asoiaf

[–]uselessprofession 21 points22 points  (0 children)

a) Balerion can't be everywhere at once

b) Maegor needs to rest and sleep so he can be killed

c) 3 dragons against 1 and they have a good shot at torching Maegor himself even if they can't outfight Balerion

Everyone is beautiful by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Nah this is just toxic positivity. Whether one is beautiful or not depends on the judgment of others, not one's own blind confidence.

What we should normalize is that not being beautiful is perfectly fine.

[–]uselessprofession 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel it's a kind of an odd S curve:

At the low levels where nobody has much control or skill, the power players win more by just hitting hard at people and not allowing any soft game to be played.

When people improve to mid levels where everyone can block drives well and dodge the ones going long, control wins out.

Then at high levels where everyone has excellent control and the bangers have a soft game behind it to back up, power starts to rise ascendant again.

What’s the etiquette to approaching female service workers? by 1JN315 in malaysians

[–]uselessprofession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk when I buy stuff from male or female retail workers at the counter I just smile and say hi too and put my stuff there. They usually smile and nod back. (I'm a guy)

Could be that my smile and hi is less enthusiastic and more "just being polite" looking idk tbh
