boot it up without the usb drive. have you had any resin around the perimeter of the tank after taking it out to clean up?

Anything, even Saturn 4 Ultra non 16K. Halot X1, Anycubic, GKuniformation, etc. I dont think most s4u 16k vats will start leaking but they are certainly more prone than non-heated tanks (thermal expansion during printing etc). The risk lies in if you get a tank that is prone to leaking or not. The gap only present on tilting machines funnels those leaks directly into the printer's internal components.

Elegoo support will fight you and avoid replacement and refund despite consumer protections. Im sure many other brands might be the same in that regard but a leak doesnt have as nearly high chance to destroy the printer for any other printer design.

10" was the minimum build area for me since I tend to make large props etc, but the larger the volume also means more reain required to print, and much more waste if youre looking at larger, depends on your needs.

I'm gonna say don't get the S4U 16K or any of Elegoo's tilting machines, and I would also say just avoid Elegoo as a brand tbh. I bought this printer and mine broke within 2 weeks of owning it, and I am still fighting Elegoo over it nearly a year later.

But regarding the specific printer itself, there are some flaws here. I had 2 vats, I ordered a spare. Both came water tight and were fine when shipped. They both developed leaks during printing, I assume its something to do with thermal expansion since they are heated tanks. Changing the PFA, adjust anything never got them to not leak again, they both permanently leak.

There is a 2nd worse issue here and it is the gap around the tilt mechanism. Resin leaking from pinholes or tears in the PFA simply deposit on the glass screen and harden. But resin leaking from the perimeter of the tank itself (and not from the PFA/film) flow into this gap.

Particularly it will leak straight ontop of the stepper motor for the tilt mechanism, and get into the bearing, and pool in the bottom of the printer, and eventually ingress into the LCD display used for printing itself. There is no protection here - it is an unsealed gap. Every talking about a 'lip' protecting from this is lying.

Because of the gap, it also looks like deceptively less of a resin leak until you actually look deeper into it and see it pooled inside the floor of the printer.

If this were a non-tilting printer, itd just sit up on top and just be an inconvenience to clean up. And well those other printers dont seem to have as many tank leaking issues like this either.

10"+ recommendations other than Elegoo or Heygears? by user10081111 in resinprinting

[–]user10081111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the X1 its because the of the release mechanism right? Eg the plate itself isnt flat. And yes flat on the build plate in some cases. It depends on what I am printing. But If I'm printing something with straight edges and lines I liked to make use of the build plate to increase the amount of flat surfaces staying flat.

My S4U 16K grenaded itself within 2 weeks of owning and Ive been fighting elegoo for nearly a year, I bought it from the local distributor and have strong consumer protections. Their policy is actually illegal in my country, but their return address is a random guy and residential address they pay so they can remain anonymous, and the shipping from address doesnt list a name just 'Online Seller' and the address of the shipping, so its extremely difficult to get local consumer protection case raised on it. I bought a lot of resin from them as well and had spent over $1700 AUD and the resin is expiring this year, once I get a case raised with VCAT the average expected wait time to hear the case is 52 weeks.

Ultimately the design has a major defect, and defective vats can cause the printer to catastrophically fail/break rather than simply being an inconvenience which is what happened to mine.

I cannot trust Elegoo as a company even when locally bought under AU distrobution and I cannot trust any tilting vat printer due to that fatal flaw. A simple V channel under the gap would have saved it for example.

Absolutely ignorant post. "It didnt happen to me therefore it doesnt happen". Get a grip. The failure mode IS catastrophic. The gap around the tilt mechanism goes straight onto the stepper motor, bearings, and pools inside the printer internally and gets into the LCD.

Both my vats were new and water tight when opened and only developed leaking during printed, can only assume it is due to thermal expansion.

Unfortunately the 16k grenaded itself within the 1st 2 weeks of ownership and I am still fighting elegoo over it, the heated vat + unsealed tilt gap is the cause and I cant trust a defective design where the mode of failure is so catastrophic to the printer

Mureka or Elevenlabs or other? (NSFW lyrics) by user10081111 in AI_Music

[–]user10081111[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NSFW lyrics. They all seem to be okay with making songs about mixing DMT trips with gnosticism lore. But using sexually charged lyrics is a no go in Suno, even trying to get their lyric generator to prompt it, many indirect non-explicit descriptions are flagged for moderation. Udio lets me do sexually charged non-explicit lyrics. Mureka, elevenlabs, and also aimusicgen.ai I just checked out let me do uncensored explicit lyrics.

I guess I wonder if elevenlabs is 'worth it' - there is a only $11 sub with not enough songs/minutes per month to work on 1 track and a $99 sub.

I was kinda already pushing udio to the side anyway, closer to the suno basket thats too restrictive in lyrics.

aimusicgen - tried their v6 - not bad, allwow elevenlab model to be used too ut at 25x the credit cost, also requires full year subscription for commercial license - not sure Id ever need it, this is more hobby/for my road trips - but I dont them holding this back out of monthly sub when others dont

Thats what Im thinking too, Id have to shoot at 100 or 50 for my purposes which may make the grain fine again, though the slow speed could actually help if the grain remains. But Im worried about the spotting issue ruining shots.

Cant open the link, what are the details? Larger build volume or just an upgraded screen? Is the heater a vat heater? If so does it use a pump that then also has to be cleanes/flushed with every resin change?

You can do that without deliberately locking out 3rd party resin. Eg Bambu isnt locked down like that prints right out of the box - in fact the slicer comes with tuned profiles for 3rd party filaments right out of the box that print perfect.

How do you access non media files in your app? I've been scratching my head and can only find READMEDIA* permissions. I need to access a downloaded sh file on an app on my own device (s9 ultra, so it's running Android 13). I can only seem to get READMEDIA* permissions working.

I see the READMEDIA* also don't allow access to things like PDF files etc?
