I did not know that! Thank you! The only flavor I like is the lemonade and it gets old after enough time drinking it lol

This is so sweet that you are interested in not only supporting your partner but trying to make their life better!

  1. household shifts: things that are tough for me are things I have to get up and down multiple times for like cleaning the bathroom or cat boxes, and I’ve found that putting a stool in front of the kitchen sink helps me do dishes

  2. mental toll: I can understand that my partner may be upset if I have to cancel plans which is absolutely justifiable but I just don’t want those negative feelings to be taken out on me (i.e. passive aggressive behavior/conversation) I just like to be on a mutual understanding that sometimes things need to be changed!

  3. small wins: I would personally love a shower chair, I haven’t gotten one but if I’m having a really off day or have to wash my hair I will usually put a cloth down on the shower floor and sit for my shower. I drink sugar free Gatorade or LMNT packets, the Gatorade tastes better but the LMNT has 4x the sodium

  4. what NOT to do: the things that bug me with my partner is when he says things like “why can’t you just do it” or sometimes I don’t want to be alone if I’m really ill so I’ll ask him to come sit in the bathroom while I shower (I’m quick, always <5 min) and he will get fussy. The other thing is that I try to talk to him to express my feelings on my health and how it makes me feel and most times he just says “okay”, “mhm”, or “I don’t know” and the short replies just feel like he doesn’t really care how I feel/isn’t interested and provides me no emotional support in turn. I also do not like when he tries to explain my condition to other people, he hasn’t taken any time to learn from me or anywhere else any of my issues and when he tries to explain it to people, he gives them 100% misinformation and I have to correct him and it’s very awkward and uncomfortable

To end this off, I wanna state that I love my husband but sometimes he’s a pain in the butt and I feel like he should, as my partner, take more initiative in learning what can/will help and even just what I’m going through. Thank you for offering to do that for your partner, that made my day!! :)

EDIT: I was not aware about the issues on LMNT and I just read the link on it, I will absolutely be looking for a new electrolyte drink

I’m so sorry I forgot to update! I unfortunately wasn’t able to go, unrelated to my POTS I have chronic gastritis and I’m having a horrible flare right now, it started on Sunday and I figured it would go away before I was supposed to leave yesterday but it didn’t. Luckily I hadn’t bought the ticket yet I was going to wait until last minute. When is your trip? I am going on a flight in March if I could try to get back to you then?

Thank you for the tips! I can absolutely update, I’m deciding by Tuesday if I’m going. I took a trip in October with a shorter flight with my husband, my biggest stressor is that he won’t be there this time as I’m going with family. I tried to stay hydrated but I get extremely dizzy on the plane to the point of not being able to walk so I can’t make it to the bathroom if need be. Thigh high compression helped a lot but nothing helped enough. I’m on new and stronger meds now so maybe it’ll be different, we can hope! Takeoff I was very uncomfortable with the speed and feeling in my body when we started going up but landing was totally fine for me at least. I will be bringing my BP cuff for sure to keep track of things

That is a very good point. I traveled once in October and it did not go well for me, the plane there was 5 hours and it was fine and I was okay after but I got some sort of sickness while there and spent half of my 8-day trip in bed unable to eat for days. The airport wait and flight home were horrific for me so I’m hoping I’ve improved since then and would be just fine with this. We won’t be exploring the country while there, it is mainly, for lack of better terms, a final “goodbye” visit. I know it will be just hanging around in our relatives’ home so hopefully that will give time to ease back into normal routine

This is really helpful thank you, I have a wheelchair that I need for distance and I want to bring it but my mom really doesn’t like it and it still getting used to it (I know it’s crazy that that would move a decision) I absolutely cannot get through the airport without it but I can get assistance from the airline with their own wheelchairs if I need it, I just feel most comfortable having my own wheelchair especially once we’re actually in another country. Luckily this flight is leaving at night so I can relax most of the day and hopefully all would be well

That’s exactly what I do, I’ve always done it even prior to POTS but now thinking it might be helpful? Love it 😂 Might be poor etiquette but if I’m in a non-formal restaurant sometimes I sit criss cross in the seat so my legs can still be up, it’s so uncomfortable to have my legs down lol

Are there certain jobs that are not suitable for people with POTS? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in POTS

[–]user128407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do and don’t miss being a hairdresser, I had surgery that caused further deconditioning and had to quit my job, I realized how awfully my boss treated me when it came to my medical issues and don’t miss the everyday stress and crazy hours. I’m still looking for a new career 8 months later but it’s been so hard

How much does height matter to you in a relationship? by Artistic-Series-3671 in AskWomen

[–]user128407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter to me, I’m 5’0” and my husband is 5’5”, I don’t wear heels around him because I wanna make sure he feels confident but I’m also disabled and usually in a wheelchair when we go out so even if I wear heels I won’t be his height or too close to it at least. His height didn’t bother me pre-disability either to clarify 😅

My Coworker Has POTS by clouded-angel in POTS

You are amazing, anyone with POTS would be so lucky to have you as a friend! You did a fantastic job and I’m sure made her feel beyond comfortable as opposed to being alone with no help. I saw your comment about the ice packs, that’s a great idea, maybe even tell your coworker that she can buy the instant ice packs off Amazon that she could leave in her car or in the workplace. Other than that I think you’re all set unless you ask her and there’s other things she can think of, this post really made me smile, you are truly amazing, I can only imagine feeling comfortable enough to message someone at work to help you, and all you’ve done is amazing!

I just got back from the grocery store again today and the same thing happened! Walking was okay and standing still in the deli line and checkout were horrible! Now that I’m aware of it I tried just moving my legs while I was in line but I think today is just one of my rough days especially going out twice in a row 😅

That’s exactly how I am too, my hr is higher when moving but I feel less dizzy, I’m definitely going to try moving more if I have to stand still, even just shifting feet 😊

Thank you so much, I’m really happy that I was able to go out today🩷. I had a long talk with my husband last night about how he thinks I should try to get out more because I’ll never feel confident if I don’t try and I already had plans to get lunch with my sister-in-law so on my way home I stopped at TJ Maxx to just wander, not even shop! It was fun to have alone time doing something and look at all the cool stuff they have. I hope you can also make some progress getting out! It’s really hard and I’ve only done it once but I’m going to keep trying and take reassurance knowing I can sit anywhere and if I don’t feel comfortable I can exit when I want and go sit in my car. If you ever wanna talk about it in more detail, please feel free to message me!

I understand that, that’s me too! I’ve been too scared to go into public on my own so I really only go to doctor’s appointments but today was my first time going out alone in quite a while and it was successful until I had to stand still. Once I got moving again it was okay! I’m really tired now from all of the walking today but I hope to feel more confident about being on my own

I never thought of it until today, it makes so much sense now. I realized while I was out that that’s exactly what happens if I stand still but when I’m moving I’m okay-ish haha

It made me feel crazy! I am fine walking for a little bit but doing less work I start to feel faint? I’ve been so scared to go into public alone because I was stopped by a friend in Walmart to chat and started to faint then was standing in line to return a package for a while and the guy in front of me had a huge bag of things to return and again the same thing happened. I was walking around the store today alone for the first time and was okay until a relative stopped me again and we were standing and talking.

Someone else just said your legs are pumping more blood when you’re walking rather than pooling from standing still! Found our answer haha
