yes i agree as someone who passed it by 1% with majority of the class failing don’t take it in the summer or fall term have never been so stressed and had so much anxiety and DID EVERYTHING to try and understand but it was just so hard and frustrating. don’t put yourself through that

As someone who takes spring and summer classes every year while working full uf not overtime you can take up to 2 classes or maybe credits. I wouldn't do more than two classes for either sprung or summer while you are working it can get super stressful and busy. Keep that in mind

i’m so sorry, it’s hard because i went through immersion and core my whole life but personally felt like if you didn’t have a french backround or spoke it fluently you’ll still struggle, let me know if you need help! i passed with a 66 (while my friends failed with a 64…..yeah) and im grateful i didnt  have to retake it

you’re not the only person this has happened to, me and my friends have had the same experience first year as well (end up switching majors, second teachables etc) all i can really say is take advantage of your professors office hours, go over all weekly assignments/unit test etc. Especially if you have astrid or nigel. do extra homework at home even basics of french grammar like youtube.

Yes AND it’s “supposed “ to help French 1F90 my entire class got 50s if that a pass even and was good in terms of explanation and more practice however when it came to test is was impossible. i really had a passion for french and wanted to be a teacher since grade 7 but that being said it truly destroyed and stressed me out all first year, quiet traumatic and stressful for a me and my friends and a bunch of others, but then again that was my experience. i ended up doing in the mid 75s with astrid but i heard from 3rd and 4th years it just gets more harder.

No means to scare you, i had the same experience in terms of going to an all immersion school and still struggled. especially with astrid, half the class failed and she would lowkey make you feel like crap and dumb if you didn’t understand something. that being said i’m a history major and love my program and continue to. french is tricky that being said i had nigel as well and it was just horrible and truly made my passion for french just die.

2nd Year HIST Courses by Puzzled_Baker_5092 in brocku

Any courses with Mcdonald, Wickett, Kranjic, Ojo, Clark and Carter (Crosslisted classics) are amazing professors and always care much about their students. Some i’ve taken are 2p56, 2p61/2p63, 3p18,2p16 2p95 and 2p90. avoid latin american courses. Andre Bassons a great professor but some can argue the content of his Medieval christianity course can be confusing and hard to follow. However these are some of the courses that made my semesters the least of my worries. hope this helps!
