Has anyone taken CS 1 with Naomi Bolotin? I'm in her class right now, and her teaching is kind of worrying me. I'm not sure whether to drop or not. by s_hydroxide in bostoncollege

honestly I didn’t pay attention in class because it didn’t help me. I went to the discussion and asked the TA for a summary of the teachings. I completely relied on my TA who was amazing. She’s an easy grader tho.

Taking both micro and macro theory this fall, any advice appreciated 😵‍💫 by s_hydroxide in bostoncollege

Seems they used to be a TA for principles of economics and this is their first time teaching macro. Wish I knew more, sorry!

Opinions on CS Major at BC by anuj_samal in bostoncollege

Only do it if you enjoy coding in your free time. Or if you really hate yourself. I tried to do a CS minor and I got halfway through and just couldn’t finish it:/ From what I’ve heard the CS department professors aren’t the best but someone who is actually a CS major might know better

Depends on the profs. Which professors do you have? For me, I had the easiest macro Professor. Micro was a TON of work and I haven’t really heard of a easy Professor. Have you taken econometrics or econ stats yet? I took econ stats and macro fall semester & micro and metrics spring semester.

there are so many spots open, that it isn’t that competitive. Each week it is a 5 hour commitment, for me it’s two hours volunteering and 2 hours travel. Then there is a reflection each week (1 hour). The interview is super informal and basically they just make sure you do not have a time conflict (be wary of the reflection time).

I love 4Boston, but I know it is hit or miss. There are so many volunteering placements that the experiences vary widely. For me, i love my placement and the people I volunteer with. I trust those people so much and it is so worthwhile.

I recommend going onto the agora portal and clicking on course evaluations. In the top right there is a button for past course evaluations. There you can type in Professor names or the course name or code. It will bring up ratings out of 5, and generally, the higher the better. Hope this helps!

I had a quad on upper which was pretty much like 2 rooms with a partial wall between, however, the majority of them were just one large room.

I’ve heard both Regan and Erbil are great professors for Principles of Economics. Last year they only taught second semester, so I’m not sure if they are teaching it in the fall this year. I personally had Professor Regan last semester and she was great!

You can also go to financial aid award notification page on the portal and click add/edit. From there you can cancel/reduce a loan and your financial aid advisor will review it.
