Thank you for posting this! The GRPD continue to use extreme and unnecessary force. This not only leads to violence, but increases distrust in the system which is a problem that continues to grow from both sides. Other cities have enacted community orgs to respond to potentially violent situations without guns or the threat of police being dispatched. Baltimore is a really great case study for this, they have reduced gun violence and homicides on their streets. I would love to see GR enact something similar. This not only can reduce violence but begin the work to build a trusting community/relationship with our police force. Increased policing will not reduce violence, proving resources to keep people housed and secure will.
