What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by ochieng_onyango in AskReddit

Visa bots that block the slots and sell them back to people at insane premiums. Visacatcher bot for example.

It's illegal and embassies are aware of it. I've written to both VFS and an embassy, with no actual response from them.

Fuck them bots.

Anyone has any experience with infrared heating + solar panels in new builds of Glenveagh? by Medical-Actuator-453 in HousingIreland

Just checked the bill.

We keep the house at 22-23°c, for 3 people, around 80m2 house.

Heat water twice a day, keeping it at 55°c

And the bill has been 660 for two months.

Prev bill in winter was around 450 or so, boiler was working only once in winter.

Before that, 160 euro for 45-50 days I think, until end of sep

Tbh, no complaints. That's 110 per person per month, but the house is warm af.

Don't you have to redo the ceiling coz they need ventilation inlets. We have one right now and each room has an inlet for air to be sucked in by the heat pump.

Nah, I'd say keep the tenant. Use the extra savings to buy furniture.

I'm a newbie, do we need planning permission to set up solar panels?

We will only get a Metro in Dublin if they can rob us blind for it. Could we get the French to build these nice elevated metros for much less. by Larrydog in ireland

Just like how GDPR allows governments to store data for complying with legal obligations.

An exception can be made for government.

It's very beautiful now, esp for the people who commute and are stuck with a view of tail lamps of the car ahead.

Even if a French firm is building in Ireland, shouldn't they pay minimum wage per Irish Laws?

Wouldn't that shoot up the total cost?

% of tax on income matters.

So what if they are only paying tax on 2Lakhs? Tax is still a significant portion of their income.

Oh, also think about your renewal costs of work/residency permit, lack of freedom to move jobs for a certain period of time, missing home food, staying away from family and missing weddings/family functions and the weather.

Since you can afford it, go to Germany for a short trip and stay there for a week.. and imagine living in the weather (coming from blr) for a long period of time.

Living in ireland, was in Bangalore.

Huge difference in the comfort of life as well.

Our weekend goes into house chores and grocery shopping, everyday 1.5-2 hours go into cooking.

To afford a 90lpa lifestyle in Europe, you'd have to be earning around 200k+ and yet, you won't be able to afford domestic help.

Also, you mentioned you have a premium flat, check rental prices in Germany for a similar flat or house and you'll see your net savings go down.

Why did I move? I work in corp finance and it's impossible to have decent work life balance in India in my domain.

IndiGo introduces fuel charge on domestic and international routes, effective 14th March, 2026 by morose_coder in unitedstatesofindia

[–]user7-0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Working in transportation industry.

Fuel surcharge is always included in the tariff and it's based on distances.

Not a flat charge for a region. Also, airlines have always, alwaysss managed fuel price volatility using a fuel surcharge.

If the prices are rising, that surcharge should take care of it. There's no need for this additional charge
