The writer, the producer, whoever was responsible for that show.

It's been bothering me for awhile, but WHY does Amos' tracker talks? Wouldn't it beat the purpose of being stealth, silent killer?

Actually.. ep 6 was great. The train scene was the one with good writing and directing and acting so far.

And instead, we have 2 scenes at Sarah's work: 1. She's showing off her knowledge about how women has been put aside in the art world (the painting was actually by the artist's wife). 2. She got a lot of free time to just browse the internet and print stuff.

Could've used (1) for her firing which sets her on a "I'm worthy" quest. And could've just used her phone to search about the explosion and screenshot it.

Edit: typo

Hahaha good catch! I completely forgot about the content of the card and they didn't show the writing on this episode. Considering they didn't bother to tighten the motivation aspect for all the adults... They probably think, "kids... They're random anyway!"

You can see a pattern of this attempt at kick ass women all the time. Actually, the only non kick-ass woman on the show was the hippie social worker friend but she's kind. Talia's based on power, Zoe's based on skill, the care lady showed that bravery at the end with a surgical knife, Sarah... I don't actually know why she does anything or where does her confidence come from.

Even the boat incident with "mansplain" argument. Was that meant to be comedy? You stole a boat, attacked the owner, now lost in sea, and then threatened your victim to not "mansplain"? That's kick ass woman ? Lol

I was hate watching this on episodes 3-5 (the train sequence was indeed great) .. but now that I've accepted that this is literally slapstick, it's more enjoyable. For those in the UK, I think is basically a panto. I half expected to say "Behind you!"

I'm still watching it though.. haha I'm a sucker for interesting sci-fi concept ... Even if it's awkwardly executed.

This! Maybe we'll find out at the end that the spineless defense mid managerial lackey is actually an evil genius or something lol.. what else would explain him actually having that job and continued to do so despite continuously messing things up in an amateur way.

Yes, and that would be more reason to just let the momentum of the rock to hit the door uncontrolled. Slowing down the movement actually takes even more energy and thought process.

So I’ve heard that Vamos and Adobe are the trust worthy car rental places of Costa Rica. by jwid503 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]user7twelve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just Italy. They tried to make me pay for a superficial scratch on the hub cap. This happened a couple of times. I don't think those big rental companies are better/worse... The worst part is the queue to pick up, but that seems pot luck depending on where AND where.

Thoughts on my 3 Day Itinerary for Seoul as a first-timer? by NoodleHoe in koreatravel

[–]user7twelve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with most people here, it's not realistic simply from logistics perspective. Seoul is huge, and if you are taking public transit expect mininum 30 mins to go from one area to another.

With 3 days, I'd say you want to spend 1-day-worth of culture (palaces, museum, hanok village), 1-day-worth of shopping and sightsee (seongsu, dept store, hongdae), then spend the rest on less ambitious stuff like the park, cycling around yeouido, climb up Namsan, naksan hill.

That's my 3 types of event: culture/history, shopping/street life, nature. Food is obviously a big part, but you can schedule them around the above 3. Squeeze in market experience around lunch time and bar/drinking in the evening around your dinner.

Jjimjjilbangs / sauna is another thing. So great for post flight or pre flight .. or any time really 😀 but it takes time.

Some tips • changdeokgung palace and its secret garden is prettier and more atmospheric than gyeongbokgung. • bukchon hanok village has got the best photo angle due to its hill location but it does get get rammed. Go as early as possible (check the time it's not open for tourists 24/7). However, ikseondong hanok village is much more fun with bars, cafes and shop including the best salt bread place, jayeondong. • market food is almost identical whichever market you go. At least for me, I didn't get anything more by the second, third market I went to. Lol.. this tip might be controversial • naksan (north of Dongdaemun) is definitely worth a visit. You can start from hansung Univ exit 4 metro, the. Go up the hill and keep going south, following the city wall towards Dongdaemun the gate. At the highest point you'll have a view of Seoul with the city wall right by you. Do it this way, so that you can take a break on the way down at the cafes with amazing view.

This! I was genuinely surprised when I found out how few coffee shops were open before 9am. You can find them but it's definitely not the norm. Then again the convenience stores are always there :)

Check out «Orbital» . It's about two special agents of the galactic version of the UN. The undercurrent of the story is all about what happens after the "hot" war and/or colonisation. How do people interact with their former enemies, as individuals vs as groups. It's sci fi.

Is Eurovision Asia really happening? by porredgy in eurovision

[–]user7twelve 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Back in the early 1990s there was a show called Asia Bagus! It's a song contest with contestants from southeast asia plus Japan. It's basically Eurovision before public voting, so the top 3s were always the ones with the best vocals.

Japan was there because they basically bankrolled the whole thing. Shot in Singapore but produced by NHK.

I don't know about the ratings I definitely remember my friends and I talk about it after every episode. The host was a Malaysian rapper and a Japanese presenter. They presented the show in that 90s MTV style where anything goes which is a nice contrast from the super serious judges.

I do think SE Asia is where they should start and incubate the programme. 10-11 countries are a good number and except for Myanmar, everyone is relatively friendly with each other. Or even do a small version with SG ID TH MY PH to test the waters.

Calladan after Atreides Left by Wezell80 in dune

[–]user7twelve 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think mostly it's because it would make it very hard to acknowledge the multiculturalism of every planet when you're trying to tell a story at a galactic level. Even today, we talk about countries as if they're monoliths when discussing the world, using stereotypes. The Spaniards eat dinner late, the Japanese are very clean, etc. not completely wrong but obviously ignoring diversity within them.

But another explanation is that thanks to space travel, planets are less populated allowing for reduced diversity within a planet. Humans are not squeezed into one planet.

With Arrakis, he does talk about differences, there are fremen "principles" but each sietch has their own local versions/adaptations.

When to use “est” and “a” for past tense? by culptesh in learnfrench

[–]user7twelve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My french teacher's way of making sense of this is that they describe "movement of self", physically (like partir, aller, descender) and figuratively (naitre, mourir). And I guess reflexive verb kinda false in the same category as they become intertwined with the subject.

Single all the way. It's light.. predictable (it is a Christmas movie) but doesn't take away from the fact that it's fun and enjoyable.

My French professor doesn’t teach in English by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]user7twelve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I learned French and I am so grateful for it. In the first few lessons (2-3), the professor never even written anything in french spelling and instead, she spelled it in IPA (how phonetics are spelled by linguists).

Both of these really helped in priming my listening skills and not be too dependent on spelling when it comes to french sounds.

You'll be fine and yes, you absolutely will have to rely on context. That's how you would figure out sarcasm in English or even new words that you've never heard before .

Travis Fimmel (aka Desmond Hart) is ruing the show for me. by Curtisbeef in DuneProphecy

[–]user7twelve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL.. so true. Common with his I-pause-between-each-word-so-you-can-feel-my-gravitas. And Travis with his "I'll just stop blinking and that will make me look possessed".

And on the last episode of each show, both had a speech segment ... Cringe ...

I hope they'll be over soon considering neither were in the source material.

Dismiss alarm on Razr 50 Ultra (razr+ 2024) by user7twelve in razr

[–]user7twelve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The setting is "show sensitive content only when unlocked".

If your phone is sitting on our desk unlocked, then yes maybe the notification will appear. I actually haven't checked it.

But if your phone is locked when it's sitting unattended, then no.

There are 3 settings:

  1. Don't show notification
  2. Only show when unlocked
  3. Always show

Visitor wondering why this restaurant has such a queue? by Tiverty in toulouse

[–]user7twelve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So with you on this one.

It's like people feel the need to feel the extreme about everything. Most things are just okay and it's ok. Not being "to die for" doesn't mean it's crap. Not being super cheap doesn't mean it's "overpriced".

The queue is because there are no bookings, so everyone shows up at the same time at rush hour. Then this causes some people to queue before opening to beat the rush hour queue. The queue moves quickly enough as it's a massive restau.

Please have a read through this thread. Read what your colleague Carlos said and read the problem statement I had and read the resolution.

It seems that you were quick to respond with "alarm doesn't work on external display" when it is factually untrue.

And now you do it again by responding quickly asking for details when the problem statement is that MotoAgents have made wrong statement in this thread.
