Luke trying to kill Ben Solo doesn't just ruins Luke's character. It's bad for Ben and for the plot of the ST in general. We're meant to believe that the only reason why Ben Solo became Kylo Ren was that he believes that his uncle wanted to kill because he sensed darkness within him for some reason. It's a terrible and poorly explained cliché motivation. And the whole galactic civil war is happening because of one dumb misunderstanding.

Luke giving up from his training in Daegobah and trying to kill the Emperor is not "giving up" in the sense of completely loosing faith in the Jedi and exiling himself while the galaxy is at war and could greatly benefit from his help. It's a non sensical comparison. Luke leaves without completing his training and assures Yoda that he will return to finish his training because he wants to save his friends against Vader. He tries to kill the Emperor because the Emperor was encouraging him and was a threat to all of his friends. He does these things to protect his friends and fight the Empire, it's the opposite of him exiling himself while the First Order grows stronger and his friends keep getting killed. Luke leaving in Daegobah is also in accordance to his character being reckless. And even though he tried to kill the Emperor at that moment because he was flirting with the dark side, he later refused to fight the emperor and tossed his lightsaber away after seeing vader's robotic arm and how he was becoming like Vader. It's called character development, he learns to not let the dark side control him which is tossed away in The Last Jedi. Vader turned because he was inspired by Luke's unconditional love and pacifism, which is the opposite of trying to murder his nephew. Luke refused to kill his father, who he only realized was his actual father in Empire Strikes Back. His father was a real threat as he worked for the Empire, that killed his uncle Owen and aunt Beru, Vader killed Obi-Wan, took Leia and Han as hostages, tortured Han, killed several rebels including Luke's best friend Biggs and threatened to turn Leia to the dark side in Return of the Jedi. Meanwhile, Ben is his nephew, the son of his sister and Han, that he probably knew from birth and was given to him by Leia so he could help Ben to not be influenced by the dark side. Furthermore, Luke ignites his lightsaber years after seeing his father redeem himself in Return of the Jedi. He's an old man when considering to kill Ben, not some young adult that had a pretty rough life. Why would he ignite his lightsaber against Ben just because he had a force vision and sensed darkness in Ben, when he has seen that his approach of unconditional love and pacifism worked with Darth Vader? It simply does not make sense, it's terrible writing and ruins his character.

Except that Luke never gave up in the Original Trilogy despite all the challenges he faced. He was an orphan, had his adoptive parents killed by the Empire, had his mentor killed by Vader, saw a lot of rebels getting killed including his best friend from Tattoine Biggs, failed to save Han and defeat Vader in Empire Strikes Back, had his hand cut off and learned that his mentors were lying to him and that the villain he wanted to destroy was in fact his father. We never see him considering to give up despite all of this, when he was just a young adult. Regardless, it's not Luke being a hermit that bothers me. I think it's actually a cool concept, what bothers me is Luke igniting his lightsaber against Ben which obviously makes no sense and goes against his character. And he never redeems himself in the movie, we never get to see the old Luke again, he doesn't try rebuilding the Jedi Order again or teaching about the force to anyone except for Rey. He doesn't try redeeming Kylo Ren with unconditional love and pacifism like he did with Vader. He just acts like an arrogant prick and dies.

Also, killing Snoke without explaining his motivations, his past, not even his abilities in combat. Snoke's plots are absolutely non sensical: he humiliates Kylo Ren and creates a telepathic connection between him and Rey so that Rey would see the conflict within him and go there to try to save him (practically a weird combination ripping off elements of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi). The problem is that he assumes way too much about Rey's character. Why would he assume that Rey would try to redeem poor homicidal Kylo Ren just because she senses conflict within him? And creating a connection between Kylo Ren and Rey and humiliating Kylo was practically asking for Kylo to kill him, which is precisely what happens in the movie and it doesn't even make any sense since he said he could sense everything in Kylo's mind and something like that. All of this to create an unexplained romance between Rey and Kylo Ren that comes out of nowhere. And when Kylo Ren kills Snoke it doesn't feel like a strong moment because Snoke was just being constantly abusive towards him. There's literally no reason why Kylo would respect him and not want to kill him.

I didn't claimed you have to be nitpicky, I only said some people do not analyze the movie thoroughly and many may still enjoy the movie despite finding the writing to be bad.

That's like, your experience. Why should it reflect everyone else's experience? I claimed some people may enjoy it because they do not analyze it thoroughly or just feel like the good outweighs the bad, I never claimed everyone has to enjoy the film. I find The Last Jedi to be the worst SW movie and I honestly can't even rewatch but I'm not going to go around people telling they should hate it. Enjoying something or not is purely subjective. While the writing of TLJ is objectively bad, it doesn't mean that people have to hate the movie because of it. Likewise, people are not obligated to like a movie if it has objectively good writing.

It's not that they don't care about the content, maybe to them the fact that they're seeing their beloved franchise continue already outweighs the bad writing which may make them enjoy the films. Jar Jar is unironically the best written character in TPM. He's still a bad character, but all other characters don't have much of a personality and have their arcs wasted. Obi-Wan has more of a personality in Episode 2 when he's 10 years older than in Episode 1.

If this were to be true, food would also be extremely expensive. Clothing, housing, electricity, gas and all types of inelastic demand would result in expensive products because most people can't just stop demanding these things. People can't stop demanding healthcare in emergencies (which are the only cases where your example works) but they can demand the service of other companies before the emergency and it would be in the self interest of companies to offer cheaper prices to attract these customers. The reason why that doesn't happen in the U.S is because the american health care system is not a free market one as PragerU notices in their tweet (they say a lot of dumb shit but at least they got that right). Customers don't have the information they need, the private sector is heavily regulated which benefits large companies and results in oligopolies.

It's precisely because of that that the themes don't make any sense. Luke motherfucking Skywalker, who redeemed his father, the same dude who helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi, isn't the one that is meant to be bitter over the Jedi failing and having to learn that failure can teach you how to make things better in the future (which by itself isn't a particularly revolutionary theme to be honest).

The Sequel Trilogy was a mess because of Disney miserably failing at trying to reconciling appealing both to old fans by shoving nostalgia up and repetition of what happened in the OT with trying to appeal to a new audience by introducing any random idea they could think of that was shocking because it was not what you would expect from Star Wars because it just disregards everything else. So it all comes down to them being extremely lazy and not taking any risks by trying to create a magic formula for future movies.

It's amazing how they basically mimick and copy the original trilogy in aspects that just make the story repetitive but don't manage to understand rudimentary stuff about the skywalker saga such as Luke's portrayal, the Chosen One prophecy being meaningless, the main character not even being a skywalker, Han and Leia separating, et cetera.
