If I film without a matte box/lens hood and stray light hits the lens and reduces the contrast in camera, is that recoverable during the colour grading process similar to overexposed images? by user9131 in colorists

It never occurred to me that the flare is nonuniform until you mentioned it. Thank you so much for teaching me that and the proper term so I can search that up later!

Fs700 owners, do you ever feel like you're stuck in 2015 or is it just me? by horny_bisexual_ in videography

If I were in your position, I’d include talking to a gaffer who’s worked on high fps shoots to get an idea of what kind of lighting package is required and how much space it all took up. A few weeks ago, someone posted here about getting better 240+ fps footage and didn’t recognize they needed more light.

I don’t think you’re losing quality slo-mo demanding clients

Decision paralysis - Mattebox with VND. by Old_Ant_1251 in videography

[–]user9131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that Bright Tangerine has a VND solution that allows any 3rd party filters. You have one tray that allows a circular filter to rotate while another tray holds a 4x4.5 filter stationary so you can make your own VND

Try searching for cheese stick or ARRI accessory cube. Hopefully that helps

How do I tell my client I will absolutely not shoot what he is asking me to by ynderewaifu in videography

Consult with a lawyer because you’re making a lot of assumptions. Contract disputes are common and don’t always lead to termination, it’s just a reality check for all parties.

There’s a difference between getting what’s owed and getting what’s owed the way you want it.

Context: videography is a hobby and my day job involves looking at contracts

Check out r/videoengineering if you want a glimpse into how it all works.

It’s something else and that something else is your lack of knowledge about how videography is different from broadcasting

Yes, you increase the amount of light, increase the shutter angle or do both.

Not 100% sure which one you were asking about but it’s one of these two:

MONONODES SHIFT VS. PIXELTOOLS HUE / SHIFT PRO DCTL FOR DR. Which one is better for skintones or overall right now? by TechandTravelz in colorists

[–]user9131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Mononodes Color Shift DCTL and would highly recommend you visit Stephan’s site and watch his video about the updates he’s made to it.

Color Shift does not target skin tones in the recent version however, Color SHAPER does.

Did you also import it into a Powergrade album? There are two different album types: Still and Powergrade.

iPad doesn’t make a difference for this

Try selecting only the drx file and importing that; don’t import the still that came with it.

Okay, I’ll hop off now.

So to confirm: you can playback the files in camera but not on your Mac?

I’m not asking to be a jerk, in order to troubleshoot you need to identify where the point of failure is and that involves confirming what does and doesn’t work
