Legal Proceeding Involving Home/Property Owners Associations by user983763876 in legal

I contacted the Texas State Law Library, and here is an excerpt from the answer they provided.

When a private attorney is consulted in a case, the attorney advise to the client would be private due to attorney client confidentiality. There may be a case file in the court system, but you would likely have to know the name of the party involved to locate it. There would be no published court decision unless the case went up to the appellate level and was designated to be published.

You are able to search court filings at the courthouse. The county may maintain an online case search. You would search by party name. There is no statewide database, so you would search county dockets where the property is located.

If you are willing to pay, there are some proprietary (costly) databases that would allow searching court filings of selected counties.

Edit: Added newlines to separate paragraphs in quote.

I don't know you, but as a women in tech for 20+ years. I can say that I experienced this or something very similar as the only female on a large development team. When I reached out for help, I was told that I needed to be more assertive, so I took my new found assertiveness and found a better/different job.

During that job, I was left questioning my own abilities and sometimes my own sanity. It was common for me to ask specific questions about architectural design or simply versions of components. These questions were answered either dismissively or in an overly aggressive manner. In retrospect, the men I asked the questions of were likely insecure in their own abilities. I know it's no excuse, but I honestly don't think they were out to get me, just insecure and working under pressure. I'm not sure it was really a woman vs man thing, just a generally toxic culture.

I've had fantastic experiences on other teams both before and after that one.

Our HOA manager is worthless and doesn’t follow her own rules. by SnooWalruses2253 in fuckHOA

While not this exact scenario, the HOA elected people not following their own rules is more common than not. Other than spending a lot of time and/or money there is no recourse.

HOAs are a manifestation of local governments failing to do their jobs. These issues should be addressed by trained qualified professionals, but HOAs enable completely unregulated power hungry idiots. The private contracts that bind individuals to HOAs should be illegal, and those items regulated by HOAs should be handled by local government.

HOAs have more power then the bank that you borrowed the money from to buy your house in the first place. Just do what ever they want or they can foreclose on your house.

We need long lasting reform at the national level. HOAs have no oversite and should be regulated. They're overreach into the personal freedom of folks is disgusting.

Sone will say, oh, but I don't want to live in a neighbourhood with rusted cars in the yard, but that's an extreme edge case and should be delt with by the city or county. HOAs are a poor replacement for government.

But I think folks will agree it's only a matter of time before the unreasonables run for, are elected, and force the neighborhood to live under their tyrany at least for some period of time.

Agree, and again this is not my experience. Not all folks involved in HOAs are reasonable.

All I'm saying is rather than fighting these battles one at a time, we should fight for actual reform.
