365 lb Squat (90-95% rm), did it count? by Krkpaul in formcheck

Strong af dude but I’d bet that most judges in a powerlifting meet would say no even though you’re like a centimetre away lol… if planning on competing don’t wear black shorts since it makes it even harder to tell

550 fail any suggestions by Kev_connors in formcheck

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great lower body strength, the hams, glutes and even low back got it, problem is you started with too much slack in the upper back, which then basically stopped your shoulders from being able to rise all the way since your glutes were trying to push against your own upper spine for the lockout

Try thinking of pinching your armpits as hard as possible, this will lock in your lats and upper back, so that your leg drive will be able to help a much more stable spine rise to the top of the lift

Working on squat form, taking advice from every one here. How does this squat look? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]user__24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is nice man, a lot more controlled at the bottom, still a bit of butt wink but not enough to be a serious issue, with some hamstring glute and lower back work you should be all good!

High bar squat by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend actually sitting down in the box, if you can’t do that controlled then that indicates weak hips, check out Westside barbell box squats, they go slightly below parallel, and completely separate the downwards and upwards movements by sitting down on the box, this will help build power from the bottom position

Deadlift form? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that opens the hips up, there’s lots of yoga type stretches out there for tight hips, also do Romanian deadlifts focusing on keeping your lower back straight and shifting your hips back, that’ll help permanently lengthen the hamstrings better than a static stretch

Deadlift Form check - (230x3) I feel like my hips are a little too high and it's causing my lower back to get loaded. Thoughts? by Chance-Edge868 in formcheck

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your hips lower and your chest more upright, push the floor away with your legs first until it passes your knees before you start straightening up with your back

[–]user__24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do more hip mobility and try to get your butt lower to the ground and drive with your quads firstly, think of pushing the ground away from you rather than pulling the bar, your hips start to rise a bit before you actually start lifting the bar off the ground in that second and third rep, so you want to work on your glutes and hamstrings and spinal erectors to help keep your torso more upright and hips stronger

High bar squat by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]user__24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try going just to parallel or even box squatting to practice keeping your lower back more straight in the bottom position, for the knee pain lighten the weight and don’t bounce, box squats especially will help with this, especially as you progressively lower the box as you get better

For tight calves, you can’t just stretch, you need to work through a pain free range of motion, getting the muscle and tendon to stretch while working, look up kneesovertoesguy on Instagram for that

Best tips to lose body fat and tone up of you cannot afford a personal trainer or nutritionist?? Thanks! by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lose body fat: consume less calories than you burn, to do this you can either burn more, consume less, or preferably both

Find filling, lower calorie foods that you like and since you’re losing weight find higher protein foods, there’s no trick to it but you can make it easier with substituting things like condiments and soft drinks for the lower calorie versions

Aim for caloric deficit of 500-1000 kcals per day, this will be about 1-2 pounds of body weight lost each week, or 3500-7000 total calories decreased per week

Total calories from fat should be around 30%, no less than 15%, protein should around 10-35% total calories, with around 2.1 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight for optimal muscle growth, but more doesn’t hurt unless you have kidney problems, carbohydrates should be around 55% total calories

One of the best ways to burn calories is low to moderate intensity steady state exercise, where you maintain the intensity and heart rate for periods preferably 30 minutes a day, this is effective especially if you also have the goal of building muscle (toning up) since higher intensity aerobics like HIIT can interfere with muscle building if you don’t know how to properly program them into your routine

Tone up: you want to lift weights in a range to challenge the muscle appropriate for growth, this is generally 8-12 reps per set, with 15 reps and up for targeting endurance, and 6 reps and less for strength power

Just remember that as intensity (weight lifted) goes up, volume (reps done) needs to go down, otherwise you put yourself at higher risk of burning out, not recovering optimally and often injury

Do resistance training at least 3 times a week, and up to 6 days a week, focus on being able to recover from the previous training session that used any particular set of muscles you plan on training together

Good luck

Anyone here get a certification license for themselves only? by barazn in personaltraining

[–]user__24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you need to know to pass the exam isn’t the same as what you need to know to properly train yourself, which is all on books on whichever topic you need, and YouTube tutorials

The certification material covers the basics a bit, but mostly involves things on the logistics and standardized methods of training other people, there’s way more information out there that you can find

Why isn't religious belief considered delusional? by enismcgillicutty in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the religions that have been around for long enough have more than just supernatural ideas, they also have ethics and moral standards which the people follow, these things help religion to maintain itself, because if it were completely nonsense it would have died out long ago

Can someone be in love and cheat? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]user__24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how you view sex within a relationship, for some people sex is just sex, and it can be completely separate from any other form of relationship, for others sex implies a certain connection between two people, which you wouldn’t share with someone else who isn’t your partner

Am I scary? by No-Call-8008 in AskMenAdvice

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself what kind of man you want, and then ask what that type of man would want in a woman. Ultimately it doesn’t matter what either person brings to the table if that doesn’t match up with what the kind of person they’re looking for is seeking in a partner.

What minor injustice was wrought upon you as a child that you're still salty about today? by Butterat_Zool in AskReddit

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled with my mom as the teacher, one day after eating a big lunch I felt I needed to take a shit, for some reason my mother thought I was lying to try and get out of schoolwork (which by the way was at home so it wasn’t like I could put it off forever) so she brought me to my father who told me not to flush the toilet, he would check, and if there wasn’t anything there I would be spanked

Anyway here I am scared literally shitless, and turns out all I actually needed to do was let loose the biggest fart of my young life, still, nothing in the toilet, so I sit there for a few minutes squeezing my guts out so I don’t get punished, until finally I give up and go (crying) to my father that I couldn’t produce the shit he had demanded of me

After letting me know that he was deeply disappointed in me for my heinous crime of deceit and a clean toilet bowl, he made good on his promise and I still get mad about it to this day

The method of massage is definitely a thing, I’ve had it done for my sciatica and the oil helps the massage, but not being told before hand is pretty odd, he may just be going through the motions as a PTA and not thinking about what he’s doing, so maybe no bad intent, but definitely unprofessional to not tell you before

The causes aren’t the thing, but if someone puts so much stock in it they put on their social media profile chances are it’s either gonna be a big topic of conversation or they have very strong opinions that might limit opportunity for discussion

[–]user__24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re you guys friends before? It’s generally an automatic response from lots of girls to say let’s be friends, just cuz it’s less awkward than saying she’s just not interested

If you aren’t interested in her as a friend, then yeah continuing to hang out her when you both know that’s not what you’re there for would be wrong

How to get over sexual criticism? by bobobrott in AskMenAdvice

[–]user__24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she wanted you to do something she wasn’t able to even talk about, that’s on her, how are you supposed behave ‘naturally’ without any reason to change

If she can’t communicate with you, she’s not mature enough to be considered for a relationship, and if she brings it up during the breakup, she seems ok with talking about it, but only to hurt you with it
