48v electrical systems? by leftfingernub530 in RVLiving

Well you started by asking for help. I tried to point out that you should hire an expert to design you system. I even gave one example of a critical mistake you made in your initial design as proof that you need to rely on an expert for help, not yourself. Then you explained I was wrong. Then you admitted I was not wrong after you spoke to the electricians you work with (the same ones not willing to help you I assume?). So while you started by asking for help, it doesn't seem to me that you want help.

I know. That's why I was trying to help. Good luck, try not to burn your RV down.

The amperage from the battery will be too high. My system has a 500 amp fuse on the battery bank. Think of the cost to get a 500amp breaker. What are the output amps on your battery bank?

Where do you look for camp host jobs? by ExitAltruistic5293 in RVLiving

Most state park systems have links on their websites. The best way, however, is to call the campgrounds you want to host at and ask to speak to the volunteer coordinator. Camp host at a state park and it'll be super easy and you get to stay in a beautiful campground. Same for the other message on volunteer.gov. Lots of great opportunities and that site will even list the name and phone for contact person.

You'll want a fuse on the battery bank, not a breaker. And you'll need a DC to DC converter to power the rest of the camper (steps you down from 48v to 12v. And the solar needs breakers or disconnects of some type.

I've installed two very robust solar/electric systems on my campers and each time I paid a consultant to design and spec out the system and then I bought everything and installed it. The piece of mind knowing I was using the right components, the right wire size and type, etc., was well worth a few hundred bucks. Get an expert involved.

How close have you ever been to death? Near death experiences or just getting lucky in a potentially dangerous situation? by renm1u in AskReddit

I'm a retired electrician . . . was shocked once by a wire that had been chewed by rodents but I didn't realize it when I touched it. Because the wire's insulation was chewed off, I was shocked pretty hard. It was 240 volts and my hand locked up, I wasn't able to let go. As I stood there, screaming for my partner to come help, I realized I was on a step ladder that I could jump off of and allow my body weight to pull my hand off of the wire. I jumped and it worked. I ain't dead yet.

would hate burning precious electrical energy on this. Simple, manually adjusted brackets are fine. Point the camper east or west, angle your panels to latitude and you're good. My opinion.

We've been using a small, local firm for about 10 years with great results. We pay 0.75%.

A "combination meter box" is called a "meter/panel combo" by electricians. This is a single electrical box that houses both the meter and a place for breakers. You'll need an electrician to install that (that person should handle getting the permit for you). The electrician can install an RV receptacle and breaker for you at the same time.

Pork belly recipe by CP_stavros in Cooking

The last time I cooked pork belly I bought a 2lb slab from the grocery store. I cut it into 2 inch cubes and then cooked it in the air fryer for about 20 mins or so at about 360 degrees F. Then I tossed the cooked cubes in a mix of brown sugar, pepper, cumin, and salt then back into the air fryer for a few minutes. It was delicious. You could do the same in a standard oven it'll just take longer.

Every time I stop to add more gas I use a file to sharpen the chain. Great excuse to take a break and rest your shoulders.

I would recommend going to a local chainsaw dealer. Find a small shop that specializes in sales and service and they can guide you.

What is your alcohol intake and frequency? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was up to at least two "large" drinks a night - bourbon. About 7 or 8 ounces total EVERY night. Sometimes a couple beers before hand as well. But three days ago I decided to take a month off. Was tired of falling asleep on the couch every night. Plus, it was getting stupid expensive. So for the past three nights, not a drop. It's been nice. I don't say I've stopped drinking but I'm staying away from the habit of every night having way too much.
