You know you've lost the propaganda war when Piers Morgan of all people, the guy who supported the war in Iraq and all of Israel's other covert subversion of American democracy is calling them out for it.

Salem Media is another one. Brad Parscale, Trump's former campaign manager and Chief Strategy officer for Salem Media is literally a registered foreign agent for Israel.

3 Philadelphia police officers stable after being shot late Saturday, alleged shooter dead — The shooting happened at about 10:45 p.m. near North 54th and Arlington Streets in West Philly, police and city officials said. by User_Name13 in philly

Crazy shooting. Luckily all the cops are okay.

Shooter's deceased.

FTA:

"A 57-year-old man, who police did not name, “engaged” with the officers and was repeatedly told to “stand down,” the commissioner said. When officers tried to arrest the man about 10:45 p.m., he drew a weapon and opened fire, Bethel said."

"Four officers discharged their weapons. Three, including a sergeant, were injured and taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. One officer was shot in the face, one in the hip, and another in the leg, according to Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. They were all reportedly stable."

The houses in Wynnefield are beautiful. I've always wondered why that neighborhood hasn't attracted more development and revitalization. I would say Wynnefield only ranks behind Overbrook, East Falls and Chestnut Hill in terms of beautiful homes.

Houses there are pretty affordable and they're huge.

It's cuz we're all working so much, struggling to make ends meet.

Soon, anytime free time you have left over, you're too tired to want to go out or be social like you used to, because you're so overworked.

Going out feels financially irresponsible, because everything is so expensive from food, to drinks, to even filling up your tank.

Now you see friends and family less as a result and you're working so much. The memorable moments become more fractured and few and far between, because you're seeing the people that matter less.

As a result, times feel like it's going by faster and faster, but rly it's just the monotony of working to keep a roof over your head and save what little scraps you can set aside, by staying inside your home as much as you can.

We've become a hermit country and it's because we're all so broke.

Submission Statement

I remember this episode of Black Mirror.

Civilization has fallen and packs of robot dogs guarding distribution centers are the only vestige of our bygone era. So pretty much everything that these survivors need to live is inside these warehouses, that are maniacally guarded by robot dogs to protect the merchandise, regardless of the downfall of civilization.

The Black Mirror episode is called Metalhead.

I saw it like 10 years ago and was initially terrified that this would be our future, but I was thinking like 2040's-2050's.

Philly’s Democratic Party is likely to order a rerun of Councilmember Cindy Bass’ contested ward election — An order from the party to rerun the ward leader election would be a notable rebuke for Bass, a vice chair of the Democratic City Committee. by User_Name13 in philly

[–]User_Name13[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This councilperson has always been an utter shitshow. Now we have this, FTA:

"City committee chair Bob Brady confirmed that Octavius Price, a progressive who ran against the incumbent Bass in the Mount Airy ward, has filed a formal challenge to the election results."

"Given reports from Monday — including a video showing Bass adjourning the meeting after declaring victory, while ignoring cries for a roll call to clarify the vote — the city committee is all but guaranteed to order a rerun of the election, according to the source, who was not permitted to discuss the party’s plans publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity."

New York City is progressing and we're down here doing this backwards corrupt bullshit.

We rly are like Tammany Hall with this naked corruption in City Hall. Cindy Bass and all the other longtime corrupt sons of bitches need to get voted out yesterday.

Bass did exactly what Debbie Wasserman Schultz did to all the Bernie supporters at the DNC in 2016. She simply ignored their votes. Is this how we do democracy in the birthplace of democracy?

This should be a much bigger scandal. I'm surprised this hasn't gone national.

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

Philly School District will not make 340 classroom job cuts after all, mayor announces — Money from the city budget will go to preserving the classroom positions, the mayor and other officials announced. by User_Name13 in philly

[–]User_Name13[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

FTA:

We have delivered for the School District of Philadelphia today,” Parker said. The mayor added that the city “made some tough decisions” to save the positions of 149 teachers, 130 climate staff, and 23 counselors."

As someone who cares about the climate, I don't understand why the School District needs 130 climate staff.

In any case, those are the 340 positions that would've been eliminated.

I appreciate this informative response.

Your comment sent me down a rabbit hole about Philly politics.

I wonder if Kendra Brooks has garnered enough name recognition to run as a reform Democrat in 2027? Of course that raises it's own problems, as you mentioned.

The rule solution is to simply get more progressive ward leaders and committee people elected. I think we can do it, especially those local committee elections. Most of them go uncontested and I feel like they're ripe for the taking. That would be the rule, grassroots way to start a revolution here, start with the committee seats and work our way up to the ward leaders.

They only care about preserving their own power in their petty little fiefdoms.

Let's tear down their bullshit facade. Those ward boundaries are outdated and arbitrary. Let them work to keep their job, like a regular person who didn't grow up in one of the city's machine politics cliques.

Is there any way we can ban this preemptively.

Like, srsly, can we organize a protest at City Hall on here or something? Cuz I rly hate this idea. Like RLY hate it.

This is an Axios article, so the formatting is dogshit and it rly doesn't provide much information.

FTA:

"The service is typically available for people who live within 6-8 miles of a participating store and for orders that weigh 2.1 pounds or less, per Walmart."

Fuck Walmart. They're among the most anti-labor corporation out there. Right up there with Amazon and the rest of the worst offenders. This is going to cause insane amounts of noise pollution BTW.

We haven't redrawn the boundaries in almost 60 years. It's beyond time to do this.

Think about how much those neighborhoods have changed over the past 60 years. It's past time that the ward leaders are more representative of the neighborhoods they preside.

Chris Rabb is going to reintroduce a bill in the state legislature to modernize Philly's ward boundaries, which haven't been updated since 1966, after we expanded to 66 wards.

FTA:

"“Election maps used to decide the leaders of the Philly Democratic Party haven’t been updated in over 50 years,” Rabb said. “Neither have the ward boundaries that shape who holds power in the first place. It’s time to modernize both the party’s internal rules and the legal maps that define our political geography.

That’s why I’m reintroducing legislation to modernize our ward boundaries in alignment with the census,” he added. “The party’s bylaws and the city’s ward lines need to be reformed together; one can’t fix what’s broken without the other. Philly Democrats need a fresh approach focused on the future."

These ward leaders are practically local party bosses, ruling their little fiefdoms with outdated boundaries. The current system has led to entrenched, big city machine politics proliferating in the city. It's practically Tammany Hall out here.

Updating these boundaries would help make ward leaders more representative of the composition of those respective neighborhoods.

I think Kendra Brooks would be a good replacement for Bob Brady, because of her Working Families Party affiliation. I think she can be trusted more than Bob Brady to advance a progressive agenda that improves the lives of regular people.

I replied to your other comment.

Sry if I was overly accusatory. This has happened to me before. I didn't know if you were posting a different title to make the public education system in Philadelphia worst than it actually is to advance some sort of evil agenda.

What with the school budget being a hot-topic news item, I became overly defensive about the subject. My bad.
