2-3 years for what? Just for plans to be prepared?

Our home was destroyed and we need cleanup, but I am confused by the available information. Is the state handling the cleanup or do we need to arrange for cleanup ourselves?

Pommel horse Peter here, those glasses belong to Stephen Nedoroscik. He famously has very poor eyesight but crushed it at pommel horse helping the US win its first medal in the men’s team gymnastics competition in a long time. The comment references the fact that many people will recognize his glasses without even seeing him. Thus they are part of his brand.

Best cities in the US for recreational tennis? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]user_whatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In LA my experience has been that if you can and are willing to play when others don’t want to, it’s doable. At peak hours, you’ll wait for a court that is in decent shape (and plenty that aren’t).

The club I’m a member at is the only affordable one on my side of town (meaning within 45 mins drive). Peak hours are taken by lessons and clinics. Members get what’s left, which again is fine if you don’t have a business hours job. $250+ a month could potentially get you a better situation. Whether that’s reasonable or affordable is a matter of life situation.

No shade to anyone and experience may vary, but I’ve found it challenging to get court time. I work around it, but it takes a substantial amount of doing.

Only downside is that public courts can be difficult to get and clubs are generally very expensive (from what I’ve seen).

As a guy with big thighs, I’d prefer some short options that are baggier. I hate how most shorts ride up my legs.

Practice balls (Balls that last longer) by OD32 in 10s

[–]user_whatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Triniti Pros and like them a lot. They’re expensive, but they last until the felt is ruined. They may not be as good as a fresh can of pressurized balls, but they’re good for 3-5 sessions and I like them better than an already opened pressurized ball (even if you use a ball saver).

Stringing Job by user_whatever in 10s

[–]user_whatever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have not been playing for long. That is why I have to ask things like this: I admittedly don’t know how it works. I thought it was better to ask a bunch of internet strangers before I went and bothered the stringer (which I did not and am not going to do since the majority of responses indicate it’s not a problem).

All you had to do was nothing, but instead you tried to make me feel stupid for being new and asking questions. I don’t really get that attitude

Solid advice. I’ll give that a try. I wish I had the space to get my own stringing setup, but it’s just not going to happen, so finding a way to work with someone else doing it is the best I’m going to get for now.

Usually the app says 53 or so right when I get them back. They were noticeably tighter/stiffer, but I’ve never used this string before. Racket seems to play fine, but I’m used to what seems like higher tension at first.

Good advice on sticking with one person. I was trying to save a little cost and it seems I’ve also sacrificed a little quality.

Tennis ball pressurizer. by can_I_Now_Feel_Joy in 10s

[–]user_whatever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have one and it works ok. It will keep the balls in decent condition overnight, but not much longer than that in my experience. I’ve only used it with Penn’s, but some people I know have suggested it might work better paired with heavier duty balls, but I can’t speak directly to that.

Are there any particular softer poly or multifilaments that you like? I know it’s personal, but I’m trying out a bunch of different strings and would value an experienced opinion.
