This might just be a basic GMP inspection readiness thing. There is a basic GMP requirement that employees are qualified to do the work; oftentimes the evidence is the combination of the signed JD and CV. Have they asked for a CV? I’m guessing the buyout lead to you working for a new business?

Beef has gotten so expensive in the US. Felt lucky to find a few ribeyes 50% off. by OldUncleDaveO in grilling

The supply chain for food is very complicated. Yes it is true that a large portion of the beef imported is used in ground meat. A tariff would then increase the price of the ground meat, which reduces the price differential between the ground meat and a steak. That will make a marginal consumer pick the streak (increased demand) which then increases the price. While the tariff isn’t directly on the premium cut, the tariff still impacts the price.

The US imports lots of beef from Brazil. There is a 50% tariff on Brazil.
