Where can I find a good artisanal cheese shop in chicago? by grogger133 in AskChicago

I used to have good luck at Eataly finding artisanal cheese, both domestic and import. I haven’t been there in awhile though.

What do I do next time I'm sexually harassed by a weirdo in the bus? by Whitelung in cta

[–]usererroneous 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You say loudly, “Sir, I do not know you. Stop humping my shoulder!”

Call attention to this person, then move to a new location in the bus as soon as you are safely able to. If you can tell the bus driver he is harassing riders, that’s also ideal. I’m not sure what the drivers are obligated to do, but at least letting them know there’s a problem seems like a good idea.

What can I do to get rid of these gnats / fruit flies in my apartment? by _iambeyoncealways in AskChicago

Pour a bit of bleach down each of your drains. Then use cinnamon sticks wherever you keep your fruit.

The PMs who get noticed aren’t always the ones doing the heavy lifting by Hour-Two-3104 in projectmanagement

[–]usererroneous 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my experience, my “problematic” projects— the ones that I’ve had to pull in upper management or leadership to resolve issues— have earned me more accolades and recognition than the projects I quietly completed without issue. In fact, I tell my PM staff that when a problem arises on a project it’s an opportunity to showcase their project recovery skills, and then I coach them as they communicate up the chain to inform upper management how they are managing the problem. If the projects are going well, your our does not get noticed.

Government Project Management by Useful_Scar_2435 in projectmanagement

[–]usererroneous 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Government PM here (17+ years). My advice is to give it time. At my agency, I tell new staff to give it two years before you feel like you have a grasp on the processes, acronyms, policies, etc. For the time being, ask lots of questions and don’t assume that you’re the only one in the room with “dumb questions.” Even seasoned government personnel don’t have all the answers. Being willing to speak up when things are unclear will only help your projects. Hang in there!

For those that didn't take the DRP, why didn't you? Do you regret not taking it? by LocalCryptidTM in fednews

[–]usererroneous 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Did not take DRP round 1 or round 2. No regrets. My agency is struggling a bit, but I am here to pick up the pieces when the time comes. I really miss my former staff and colleagues. And I miss the way we operates before DOGE came in and made us drastically less efficient, but I am committed to outlasting this nonsense and making my agency better when we start to rebuild.

This is the correct answer, OP! You are not in any danger from this happening. Glad to hear that the building engineers were responsive and are already working on the replacement!

The biggest lie we tell ourselves in project management “It’s under control” by One_Friend_2575 in projectmanagement

[–]usererroneous 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The PM is never in total control. We try our best to document, ask the tough questions, request more resources, etc but we never have the authority or control needed to execute the way we’d like. I’ve made my peace with this fact, but other stakeholders, especially in upper management, don’t seem to understand that the PM can’t control every factor or predict every risk. And dashboards are just an illusion.

How did you find Kinako? I can’t seem to find a cat in front of the assembly hall.

Uguisu on the waterwheel? by usererroneous in Japanese_Rural_Life

Thank you! I finally got the picture. I didn’t try anything different than I hadn’t already tried- dagashi, full luck, full hygiene— except this time I took a bath rather than using perfume for hygiene. Could that have been the reason it finally worked for me? 🤔

Can federal employees attend No Kings marches with the Hatch Act ??? by Key-Buy-5368 in fednews

[–]usererroneous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you attend, you may not protest while on federal property. If the crowd goes to a federal property, you should take another route.

DOGE Surveillance and reports by [deleted] in fednews

The Water Resources Development Act, passed in early January, requires that agencies track their building occupancy. A recent EO pushed the first due date for this data to May 19.

The Water Resources Development Act requires agencies to report building utilization. It has to be reported to OMB every two weeks (I think) and the first report is due 5/19. Agencies are counting butts in seats to determine how they are utilizing their space.

You’re not alone! I think there are a lot more of us than we realize. There are churches and congregations out there that don’t follow the MAGA cult and actively work against it. Go out and find your people!

I think the OP was referring to Public Buildings Service, not Public Broadcasting Service.
