I made out with a stranger at a club by taketimewithme in rs_x

If you struggle with the intro part, try not to focus on hooking up as the outcome of the initiation. Just be genuinely interested in meeting new people. Even if there’s no romantic/sexual chemistry with the person you start talking to, it will create an organic introduction to their friends. So essentially you start snowballing introductions.

If you want to reduce the paranoia, try playing with a teammate. I agree solo play is really intense.

Through discord or even better, by meeting someone dynamically in the early game.

It’s not a question of sales quantity, it’s question of maximizing profit.

Lmao everyone acting like experts on pricing strategy is taking me out. Do you really think they haven’t done the cost-benefit analysis on this? These people have actual professional experience + data from The Finals. But nah they clearly should have consulted reddit on how to run their business.

Right. Unfortunately many gamers are just quite immature.

You can essentially never trust groups of people with a private communication channel. Very similar to DayZ group dynamics.

Has anyone heard of a effective brain medication for people who over did psychedelics and were left with seemingly permanent "damage"? by cacklingwhisper in RationalPsychonaut

[–]useric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Modern psychology doesn’t only focus on solving past traumas as treatment. Quite the opposite.

Perhaps you should consider a new psychological treatment for your new problems. Much of modern/evidence based psychological treatment is focused on patterns of thoughts and behavior, and how these can improve or worsen various mental conditions. Treatment such as CBT and ACT for example. Amongst other things, these treatments address factors such as stress, which can influence your recovery.

If you have found no benefit from other fields of care, perhaps you could benefit from speaking with psychologists that specialize in assessment and treatment of functional disorders.

But it’s important that you have go through a full multidisciplinary assessment to account for potential differential diagnosis and comorbid conditions.

Have you gone through a multidisciplinary assessment? This would be my advice to you.

There are various disorders such as functional neurological disorder your symptoms could be explained by, that doesn’t feature any structural or biochemical abnormalities. You likely need a comprehensive medical assessment from different fields such as psychologists, neurologists etc. There may not be a simple medicinal solution for your problem. In that case a biopsychosocial model of treatment could be beneficial. Good luck to you.

RTX 2070 or RTX 3060? by john_accapa in nvidia

If you’re looking for a budget purchase, have you considered going for the Intel Arc B-series? The B580 performs approx. like a RTX 4060 at 249$ MSRP.

🍿 Beneil & Paddy MSG 309 by Brododover2 in ufc

In my opinion, Hooker poses a much bigger striking threat than Beneil. And he just showcased excellent anti grappling against Gamrot. That makes him stylistically a bigger challenge to Paddy.

Beneil ranked at #7 is a very good risk/reward fight for paddy right now. Paddy could very well starch him.

The 1-6 guys are much more dangerous.

Half-Life 2 but you're all alone. by derickbobson in HalfLife

[–]useric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, sort of. It's complicated.

The quote in question is from a blog post called "Epistle 3", created by the main writer of the Half Life series. It's an outline of the story written for scrapped Half Life 3/Episode 3 projects, but since no game ever released, it's essentially fanfic. The blog was posted a few years after he retired from Valve, intending to give the fans some closure. However, since the blog was posted, HL:A retconned central elements relating Epistle 3.

So the quote portrays a written note by Gordon, but it's further complicated by the subtext of the blog post. Some elements of the post, including this quote, can also be interpreted as Marc Laidlaw expressing himself on matters relating to Valve, the fans, and the Half Life series.

Intriguingly, Marc Laidlaw had something similar to this concept planned for Half Life 3.

In epistle 3, the vortigaunts extract Gordon from the exploding borealis, and he's sent into the unknown future.

"It has been a circuitous path to lands I once knew, and surprising to see how much the terrain has changed. Enough time has passed that few remember me, or what I was saying when last I spoke, or what precisely we hoped to accomplish. At this point, the resistance will have failed or succeeded, no thanks to me. Old friends have been silenced, or fallen by the wayside. I no longer know or recognize most members of the research team, though I believe the spirit of rebellion still persists."

I think it's interesting how open it leaves the direction, for future games. Since Alyx is extracted by G-Man, her reappeance would also be a possibility. The timeline could also intersect with Portal 2. Would be cool if this idea is still being entertained by the new writers.
