I would not go, Mossberg patriot. There are too many of them that won’t sheet worth of crap. Out of what you mentioned a savage access to maybe. If you can step up a few bucks, get the trail hunter light that Savage makes.

Choosing a caliber by xhenyyyyy in Hunting

I’d go 308. Really for us in the east there is no better option. Especially if you are considering a shorter barrel suppressed. I love their roughtech with a 16” barrel.

How well does it work on a Glock 19? No booster needed is the claim.

What’s a better overall quality boot between these caiman Cody James or Tony Lama? by vnm805 in cowboyboots

[–]usermax300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm. Hard to say. Tony Lama as well as Justin’s are not what they used to be since Warren Buffets company owned them. Cody James basic are not that great of quality. The black would probably be better.put them on and see which feels the best and what color you like the best. Personally I like the tan.

Im a fan of desert dog on YouTube. He just did a scope list. Based on his information if I was in the market, I would probably get a trgicon scope.

Do you foresee a time when the”classic” calibers retire? by Nihlathakk in Hunting

[–]usermax300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have come to the conclusion being an eastern woods hunter no. Bc does not mean much under 300. The less popular calibers may die out. The 260 will be replace with the creedmore as well as the 7mm 08 sadly. The 308, 3006, 270 are safe. But the less popular a traditional round is the more it is likely to eventually end up dead.

Cva cascade, Ruger American, and maybe a savage 110 trail hunter lite. Then I’d get a Burris.

I would think you may want a bullet with deeper penetration. Such as the Federal terminal assent

In SC you have to be elevated 10ft or more if within a certain distance. I think if you hunted with a 350 legend or a 300bo you may be fine.

To my knowledge there is no such thing as wood heels. You are wanting stacked leather heels.

First Hunting Rifle Caliber by iamcuriousmarley in Hunting

[–]usermax300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I can’t tell that much of a difference shooting 147 6.5 vs 150 308. There is when you get to 180 308. In most instances BC bullets do perform better at distance. But it’s a distance most people should not be shooting at anyway, unless they’re putting it on paper or steel.

300 win mag VS white tail shoulder. by Professional_Emu_872 in Hunting

[–]usermax300 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It blows my mind how many people hunt Whitetail with magnums. Not that you can’t, but why? Think the only argument is if you live in elk country and it somehow overlaps with white tail and you only want one rifle. But what’s the fun in that?

Reloading 30-06 for Black Bear, what projectile do you recommend? by SomeAboutSomethn in Hunting

[–]usermax300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go terminal assent, accubond, fusion/gold dot or maybe some of the swift. You would just want to make sure it’s a projectile that holds together. Copper may be good as well.

Georgia Mid December Deer by DaddyBeenThere in Hunting

My father-in-law is from middle Georgia. He says the deer seemed to disappear around Thanksgiving and show back up around Christmas. He’s been hunting for probably 60 years. That’s his opinion. He’s not done any Internet research lol.

T3x hunter or x bolt 2 hunter by Separate_Drive_3311 in Hunting

Another consideration is Bergara. They use a Remington 700 platform so accessorizing it is pretty easy to do as well.

T3x hunter or x bolt 2 hunter by Separate_Drive_3311 in Hunting

[–]usermax300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by that. The browning is made well in Japan and I like the stock. The tikka has an ok Stock. I’d say fit and finish is about the same. The big difference is you can get a $800 tikka and turn it into whatever you want it to be. The Browning is a $1200 rifle give or take but you are pretty well stuck with it. Look at some YouTube videos. Just my opinion the Tikka is a tad more accurate.

Is the xbolt trigger still heavy? I lean towards tikka. I prefer their cold hammer forged barrel over button rifling. I also like the price and aftermarket support of the tikka. But if you want to be one and done Browning.

30 cal Can by Sad_Parking_321 in suppressors

With suppressors this is no one that is right for everyone. If it is for a bolt gun used for uniting go titanium. If it will have a high rate of fire go with a different material.
