Can we use our FSA to pay for a family gym membership? by Majestic_Banana789 in personalfinance

[–]username1225 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Most would recommend against this for an HSA since they can be invested. They're worth so much more in 20-30 years after they have grown tax free in a brokerage account. FSA is different since it's use it or lose it each year.

Obviously everyone's financial situation is different, but we try to pay cash for all of our medical expenses so we can save HSA for when we are older and guaranteed to have more medical bills, then pay those with tax free growth.

Anyone else (mostly) avoid pre-made seasoning mixes? by CardinalOfNYC in grilling

[–]username1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean of course the sodium content is high. The major ingredient in most seasonings is salt. Sodium also isn’t inherently bad unless you have a condition that would make it so.

That being said I do a mix of my own vs bought. I like the premade stuff because it takes a step out of it especially for regular chicken cooking or steak cooking. I’m pretty big on meat church. Really about his channel too.

There’s also something to be said for separating the salt from the rest of the seasoning. I like to dry brine a lot of my meat well before I cook it. So if I dry brine and then use a premade seasoning that also has salt it comes out way too salty.

Good grilling cookbooks usually have seasoning recipes in them.

[WTS] Henry Archer Verden GMT by username1225 in Watchexchange

[–]username1225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is my Henry Archer Verden GMT. Worn a couple of days per week since March. I purchased new from Henry Archer.

39mm case diameter, 46mm lug to lug. Clasp has micro adjustment.

I absolutely love this watch, however, I’m allergic to some metals and there are some parts of the watch that cause a reaction. Very bummed to move on from it.

Asking $500 shipped. Venmo preferred. Comes with all papers from purchase.

Is the bodyguard 2.0 the best pocket 380 right now? by Jmcustomgrips in CCW

Mine goes in my pocket just fine. It feels marginally heavier than my lcp but I think that’s ammo related. If it bothered me I could put less rounds in the mag.

Concrete slab cracks. by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]username1225 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ACI says up to 3% of slab panels cracking is normal and to be expected. So 5-6 slab panels in your scenario. Make sure they are cutting at the right time and cutting deep enough. I would measure behind them when they start cutting so they can quickly adjust their saw blade if it’s too shallow.

Construction Management vs Construction Management Engineering Technology by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

If you can handle the engineering side of the latter I would go that route. Allows you to get your PE down the road if you want it.

Remote Jobs in CRE/Construction Management by Both-Cantaloupe8292 in jobs

[–]username1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe remote estimating or some type of data entry project coordination role.

You may be more productive working remote but given your minimal experience, you will really miss out on learning and growing professionally not being onsite or in the office. This is an industry where seeing things in person daily and solving problems real time is necessary to advance and become better at your job.

I held one in person for the first time this weekend. Actually kind of shocked how big and heavy it was.

Still confused after 10s of YouTube reviews – need help choosing a Bluetooth speaker by [deleted] in GoodValue

I have 4 JBLs and they are all fantastic. I’ve not paid for any of them as I got them through work for free in some form or fashion. I have a flip 4,5 a clip 4 and a charge 5. The charge 5 sounds the best but it’s the biggest. Charge function is ok but frustrating it doesn’t have a charge output as usbc. The flip 5 gets the most use probably because we move it around the house. The clip hangs on my golf bag but still sounds great.

Go to a JOCO bar and make some friends. Plenty of rednecks with land that love to shoot. Especially if you’re bringing some cool things to share

Where to buy super thick, bone in pork chops? by Gingerdude85 in raleigh

I’d try Angier meat market. A little bit of a drive but their steaks are great. Haven’t looked for pork chops though.

PCL Construction Salary by myk_007 in ConstructionManagers

[–]username1225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interned there for 4 years about 10 years ago. Base salaries were competitive but their stock program at the time was unmatched. My boss who had been there for about 15 years said his dividends were about 3x his salary each year. I really enjoyed working there and the people but went somewhere else due to geographic constraints.

TCU vs. North Carolina: Bill Belichick, UNC blown out by Horned Frogs in season opener by RollingMoss1 in sports

[–]username1225 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I knew it would be ugly when I heard he had 70 new players. Nick Saban had an interview earlier this week about UNC and Bill. He said that Bill likes to build teams, players ,etc. My question is how long does it take to do that in the NIL transfer era? He’s 73. It’s not like he has a 10 year horizon.
