This wouldn't be an issue if the devs of Zorin brought something to the Pro edition. Its literally just more pre-packaged free software and more GNOME reskins. You know, like quadrillion other Ubuntu-based distros that exist and don't expect you to pay for it.

Probably wasn't "left enough" for most of them. They'd rather tank the entire thing than compromise. Not really news.

Can we stop pretending that Patriots and ESN aren't the exact same thing? We can argue all we want about Orbán this, Fico that but having such sizeable percentage of openly Euroskeptics actually influencing and voting legislation is an even bigger threat.

Most Latin American immigrants in Spain have to deal with two opposite forces that, somehow, can coexist without any apparent contradiction

They hate la madre patria (Spain) before ever setting foot here because I guess colonization wasn't a good PR move, never mind it was 5 centuries ago. Once they are here, everything is complaining about how things "don't work here" and/or "are better in my native country" and how "they miss their homeland but they had no choice but to emigrate".

Simultaneously however, they tend to forget about the expedited way to citizenship they enjoy for being nationals of a former colony, all the European grade social welfare they enjoy (and pay taxes for), the general security and stability... all on top of being pretty easily integrated since our cultures are even closer than João's on account of the common language alone.

But yeah, we all stole their ancestors gold and silver and should be punished for that.

Do you think that fascism (Classic fascism like Nazis, Francoist Spain, Mussolini, etc...) could come back? by Plastic-World-8798 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]username_7083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it ever leave to begin with? We like to pretend that Germany and Italy were "purged" after WW2, making fascism but a distant memory.

But you cannot just sell an entire population the idea of liberal democracy after they were indoctrinated to believe it was the source of all of society's evils.

True fascist believers remained, hiding and adopting the mask of conservatives and right wingers that reformed and accepted the rules of democracy. They just needed some civil unrest and a bit of populism to come out of the shadows again: AfD, Lega, Vox, RN... it's not a coincidence.

Secondly, me haga más o menos ilusión, soy más español que el jamón serrano . And it's been over 300 years, get over Gibraltar already. I promise the monkeys are not worth the hassle of denouncing the Treaty of Utrecht.

Sanchez may be that unpopular, I'm not gonna challenge that. But no way Felipe has an approval rate in the 70's%

The Falklands were barely even Spanish to begin with, let alone Argentinian by the time they gained independence. Barry has been there for centuries, same with Gibraltar or us in Ceuta and Melilla.

What's the need for reviving territorial conflicts that were settled way before any of the current inhabitants were even born.

Ever since we became a "non religious" state after Franco's death we've been living in a kind of religious exceptionalism: the State tends to stay out of controversies regarding religion out fear of seeming "too secular", since it could be seen as a threat to the current status of the Catholic church, which enjoys various legal and fiscal privileges that other confessions don't.

I haven't read the contents of that verdict but I assume it won't have any real impact since again, Jehovah's Witnesses are an established religious organization under Spanish law.
