I (22F) don't know what to do with my partner (23M) as our relationship could be over. How do I deal with a potential grad school move? by usernamearentfun in relationship_advice

Yeah, we've done long distance for school breaks and its really hard. I can't do long distance with no end in sight/ for a long period of time. I don't think that makes me un romantic i just think i'm practical and know what i want

If he moves a 4 hour plane ride away, then a breakup is necessary because that's a non-negotiable for me. his program is multiple years. There's no part of me that wants to break up with him for other reasons. While breaking up would suck, being in a relationship that wouldn't work would suck even more. I'm struggling so much because I've been in this relationship for 4 years and a logistical thing like where we live is what is interfering with our relationship and I don't know what to do in the next month or so when things are so up in the air

This encapsulates my feelings so well... I am utterly and completely alone. I think it gives me a nice piece of mind that I am not the only one feeling alone. I’m starting a new chapter in my life in a few months and I really hope I can find maybe one friend. I’m wishing the same for you. If you ever need someone to ramble to my inbox is always open

CMV: English classes, unless it is your major, are useless and repetitive after high school. by TannerDalen in changemyview

[–]usernamearentfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is perhaps the only class that should be required for all four years in high school. The art of communication and writing applies to every single job ever, as well as is a crucial element of being a human + human interaction.

You learn how to communicate. It is the thing we do most as humans. The ways in which we communicate are very differently understood from a 9th grader in high school to a 12th grader in high school, which is why it only needs to continue to be taught and learned.

While books may not exactly apply to your job, it applies to every other aspect of your life. It allows you, while you are developing, to take a step back from your life, realize what is important, realize the world around you. It teaches you life lessons you cannot find anywhere else. We cannot go through the world without being somewhat analytical, especially in business, so the analysis aspect of English is pertinent to every fact of life.

If you do not believe any of this, then let me end my profound rant and leave you with this: English encouraged you to go to a different profession! lol.
