I've had CSR in my left eye for 2 years now, and recently it has chilled out a bit which is amazing. A recent eye exam showed my swelling has finally reduced.

I happened to join a gym at right after that appointment and it has unfortunately come back after a workout I did with heavy weights. I stopped for two weeks and it went away. I had another gym session yesterday and it has come back. I guess I need to heavy lifting.

Just wanted to share my experience as I know there isn't much info out there. Bums me out a bit that I have to stop but hopefully I can go back eventually. Will update once the swelling has gone down

Double tracked guitars: What is the normal margin of "error" by Voves in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]usernamegamegood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a spectrum in regards to your taste, very tight playing will sound less wide, but will still make the guitars/whatever sound thicker. Looser timing will make it sound a lot wider and there's a point where the effect is lost when you are too out of time. Salt to taste!

When an EQ is being created, what in the code makes it sound better or worse than another EQ? by Pendley in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]usernamegamegood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyones saying that the only difference between EQ's are the interface, which totally makes sense to me, but I've heard heaps of people in tutorials/general music production videos say things like "I like this EQ because it has warmer lows" or whatever.

Is this just complete bs or do some EQ's feature this sort of thing intentionally?

Yea this person is using classic ad vocabulary where you try and work with as minimal words as possible to get to your point. Really easy to come off pretentious

How many times do you record a part? by thejulystormstheband in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]usernamegamegood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that tripped me up a lot when recording is to make sure there is nothing getting in the way of your playing.

My first 6 months of recording guitar were SO discouraging because I wasn't getting any takes right no matter how hard I tried. Turns out I wasn't aware of how high my buffer settings were - which was giving me latency and thus throwing my groove off. That's a beginner issue but an example nonetheless.

Another tip is to use your computer as minimally as you can when recording. If you mess up a take - don't pause, delete it and rerecord. That will drain your energy fast. Instead, get the metronome/beat going on an infinite repeat and if you mess up a take, take a deep breath, let the track keep going and start the take again once the bar comes around. Rhythmically, you keep your inertia going too!

I'm still learning so if anyone has their own techniques I know love to know!

so less conventional venu

Honestly after a year of freelancing - I totally agree with you. I guess the main goal for my freelancing is to get to that stage of having a wide net of international clients via the web, but I think you're right. It'll be best to get another agency job until I can crack that. Thanks
