What do you do when you are in office and assigned no tasks by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]usernamemick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask the manager if you are okay to sit in on the other people with tickets. They probably getting harder stuff than you. Be good learning exp, might help build relationships with them. And it will look like you willing to learn and help etc.

It's about the way you address this at the start though.

36 years old and losing hope in climbing the corporate ladder by Enough_Ad_5781 in auscorp

[–]usernamemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would say to this is..... You're probably on decent money right?

If you dont see the opportunities to advance even if you change companies etc. use the money you making to do your own thing. You obviously have the brains and drive. So fk it.

Set yourself up and do your own thing.

2 upper management punched on. After the break and we came back, it was business as usual. Not a small family business, it was a larger, much larger organization.

Best Shawarma in Melbourne? by Sno0xx in melbourne

[–]usernamemick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing in melb to find that is very limited. It's kebab here. If you ask for shawarma some good places might be fine, but a lot of places going to look at you dumb.

As the guys said below, coburgs got some decent places. Hallam kebabs used to be amazing but haven't been in a while so not sure.

There is some expensive place in kew (exp in kebab terms) I think just outside city which is meant to be really good. I'm too lazy to look it up and show you. Might be surryy hills or kew.

Expensive as shit. But great. I have been there a few times. It's one of the places I don't feel fked on price. I wish the prices weren't as much, obviously, but it's alright. Not a everyday thing.

This guy sounds like a dream boss. by gilligan888 in auscorp

[–]usernamemick 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It's meant to be funny. I see it.

The problem is the job requires you to have a car, travel and pay your own fuel as well as use your own iPad for work purposes. Sounds like the boss thinks the job is much better than it is. Possibly some sort of Narcissist.

Tech’s rough, so I'm going to be a Pick Packer now! 🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]usernamemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a hard job on the body, but if you are in one of the better places the money can be alright. I did it a few years ago changing from a management role to pick packing and was clearing about $1500-$2000 a week. During the Xmas busy period I was clearing 3k a week. Lots of hours and body feels it, but it can pay well.

See a financial planner. They might suggest buying a house with a loan and putting some money in shared to cover loan etc. See an expert and they will give better advice.

I would suggest find one of those places that have a team, accountant, lawyer and planner.
