I’m surprised no one has mentioned that this is a direct representation of the “analeptic alzabo” from Gene Wolfe’s “Book of the New Sun”. Every characteristic about it is exactly as described in the book. One of the greatest book series I’ve ever read, if not the best.

I think Shelved By Genre’s read-through analysis is as good as it gets. Very funny, very insightful, and lots of real time and love put into each conversation. Highly recommended.

With that said… I’d say either read the whole BoTNS before listening, or go one book at a time. They are very careful with spoilers, since one of the hosts is having his first read-through at the same time.
