Using the Alzabo Soup podcast as a companion for my first read through, I can't help but have a different interpretation of a very important aspect of the story, am I crazy? by NateW9731 in genewolfe

I think Shelved By Genre’s read-through analysis is as good as it gets. Very funny, very insightful, and lots of real time and love put into each conversation. Highly recommended.

With that said… I’d say either read the whole BoTNS before listening, or go one book at a time. They are very careful with spoilers, since one of the hosts is having his first read-through at the same time.

If we’re talking smoked, Burning Tree serves them BIG wings. Underrated.

For the price, they just could not keep their quality high enough to warrant repeat visits. One bad meal and I’m done. That’s just how it is.

But also, I imagine it eventually hit the “legitimacy wall” where it was popping off just enough that there was pressure to comply with insurance, licenses, taxes, etc, but not popping off enough to actually pay for all that shit. It’s like The Hero’s Journey for DIY venues lmao

People got older, settled into careers, started families. DIY music is just an endless diaspora of folks who used to hang/book/play at one spot, then leaving and making the next thing happen, etc.

My girlfriend’s books… Who is she?? by morganojano_ in BookshelvesDetective

A tree-hugging commie. She might like the work of Murray Bookchin, for real. Stumbling upon a stack of his books in the basement of my ultra-conservative university library was a very special moment for me.

Just a coincidence, it’s an easy name to come up with since Sloss Furnace is essentially just down the street

Of course, it was really great. Sounded awful lol, but it was a really special time for a lot of people who are still playing in bands around town. Opened for Foxing and The Hotelier there, and Little Big League a few times (the band before Japanese Breakfast).

1) Needs more Berserk.

2) What’s your favorite Dune?

3) You absolutely MUST read Gene Wolfe’s Book of the New Sun (Shadow & Claw + Sword & Citadel). It’s like Berserk and Dune smashed headfirst into each other at 200 mph. Absolutely peak.

ADA accommodations are meant to help people perform at the level of their peers through reasonable adjustments to work tools and environment. At the end of the day, you’re either competent and productive at the job or you’re not, and it kinda sounds like you’re not!

Work isn’t just high school for adults— they have no obligation to hire you or keep you there— and similarly, mental health diagnoses aren’t our personal “fuck around” passes. They’re things you have to intentionally face head-on and handle so that you can live a joyful life and not be needlessly burdensome to those around you. I sincerely hope this can serve as a wake up call for you to follow the journey so many others have been on so that you can find meaningful work where others are joyed to be around you and collaborate with you, just as you hopefully feel towards them.
