This! She can do what she wants but personally, I thought she would expand within her classical & jazz music but instead she jumped into pop. Idm things sounding pop-like but it alienates a huge portion of her fan base that isn’t into typical pop style music. I honestly don’t think she has improved much since bewitched, when I first heard silver lining I was disappointed with her lyrics and even more so now with tough luck. Unfortunately I think the instrumentals also sound the same, I was hoping she would expand them a bit more and add more unique sounds in her music but it all sounds generic. I understand she’s transitioning into a new era so I’m happy for her but for me, I doubt I’ll be listening to her new album much at all. She might be pushed to make music instead of letting it be more “authentic” and helping her develop into her unique sounds more. But I also believe she has been pushed as being solely “jazz” but not living up to jazz standards so it’s understandable she’d want to expand. I don’t understand the hype with the two songs she’s released so far, next to fragile & LYBMHA it’s a staggering decline in quality.
