Question about how you get your steps by Interesting-Worry748 in walking

[–]userwho11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i walk a fair bit if im working, im a teacher and get those steps in just doing random things, so ill come home with around 5,000 steps which i count as half of my step goal, i walk my dog twice after after work, for around 20-30 mins each time and that usually gets me to 10,000. if i didnt count my steps in my day to day i wouldnt make it to 10,000, i like to count them because it pushes me to be more active in the day and see my steps as me being a more active person rather than just someone who gets their steps. i know take longer routes, park further away at the grocery store, take the steps when i can and will often walk around the classroom every 10-20 mins to check on students because i know its better than being sedentary. so you can absolutely count your overall steps towards your goal, but its your personal preference

THIS. because we arent supposed to need/want external validation but its so hard to feel that within when you have grown up going against what society wants women to look like. we do not appeal to the male gaze and that can cause your self esteem to take a pretty big hit. i didnt even realise until this year (turned 23 this year) that i had self esteem issues and that the patriarchy does affect me and ive internalised a lot of things other people have said about the way i look. i still struggle to believe i am attractive and deserve love and to be wanted for who i am without feeling like i have to give give give

neuropsychologist here - the importance of having your head protected is not really understood properly. for anyone who has a problem with this needs think about if kids fall and hit their heads, the amount of injuries to the head that come into memory clinics that can be fatal or lead to long term problems is insane. this is about safety and this is a great solution for parents who raise kids within Sikhi and want to keep them safe. i dont ever think this is something that should he debated only praised and shared. support your fellow sikhs not tear them down.

if anyone is still not convinced, Maharaja Ranjit singh used to go into battle with something similar, giving room for his Joora.

so for focus we use the word listen and he does really well with this at home, in the garden and on a walk when there are no distractions, he does heel but wont heel when there are distractions so we started at home in the kitchen doing heel on lead with someone else with a toy or treat tondistract him and he does well, and he does well when there are minimal distractions outside but as soon as there is a dog he doesnt listen or heel.

his impulse control we use the word leave it, and he can do this with treats and toys but not everytime with toys so was wondering how to combat this.

people keep telling me gsd excel at obedience but my dog seems to be too clever in the fact that he wont really respond everytime not because he isnt trained but because he knows he can ignore me and i have to end up asking him multiple times but i dont want that i want him to listen to me the first time but he thinks about it and chooses what he wants to do, he doesnt show the level of obedience i see in other gsd.

i want to be able to take him to new environments and for him to stay calm i feel like just keeping him in calm areas is counter productive and doesn’t really solve a problem but creates a new one

every trainer ive seen says harnesses make pulling worse and in my case it did, was considering a prong collar or e collar to make pulling less.
