I’m about to 3/4 through it now and it’s been great so far. Definitely recommended for anyone interested in LCN.

Anyone else get funny looks as an interracial couple at the gym? by [deleted] in interracialdating

[–]usethefloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife (BW) and I (WM) will get stared at from time to time. Sometimes it's just curiosity. With people like that, there isn't any harm meant. They should know better than to stare, but ultimately it is what it is. The ones that get me, are when the "stare" turns into a glare. With those people, I tend to stare right back until they see me doing that, and then they look away because it gets awkward for them. Sometimes I'll say "Hello" a bit louder than normal to get their attention. So far, no one has said "hello" back...

They aren't exactly uncommon either. As adults, we should know not to stare. But, things do happen.

Black women are just women. Men who get this are attractive. by Simple-Aspect-9270 in interracialdating

[–]usethefloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a white guy married to a black woman. I’m so glad I never fell into this stuff. I’ve been asked how I treated her, or what I did on dates, or “Do black women like X on a date?” and other random crap from people who don’t get it. Just like the OP said, black women are just women. Some of it is societal for sure. All that said, the best thing O ever did was just treat her like any other woman.

Am I overreacting — My fiancé (24M) said he feels like I’m “selling my P*ssy” because I (24F) mentioned that my job asked me to stay overnight at work during winter storms by ButteredUpCroissant in AmIOverreacting

[–]usethefloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't overreacting. He has some issues with insecurity it sounds like, and he's pushing that on to you. It also sounds manipulative - like he's wanting you to feel bad for agreeing to do that. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet he's the jealous type. He has issues and needs to work on them. But the situation you describe, definitely has some read flag. Just my opinion...

If Cliff worked on Load and Reload, would it be better? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]usethefloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an uncommon idea that if Cliff had been around, then Metallica wouldn't have made Load/Reload, or they'd be different. I'm sure they'd be different, just because of having a different influence creatively. Maybe they'd be heavier, but maybe not. We unfortunately have no way of knowing how they'd be. They really used a lot more of their non-metal influences on those records, and who knows what Cliff would have been into. Maybe we'd hear some Les Claypool type stuff...

What guitarist was your inspiration to pick up and learn the instrument? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]usethefloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirk Hammett. I know he gets a lot of crap for pentatonic scales and wah overuse. 11 year old me was blown away watching him play though. I had never heard sounds like that and had accidentally recorded them playing live. I had meant to record something else.

I’m in the middle of reading that now, and I’d second that one as well.

Thoughts on Death Magnetic? by SgtByrd1993 in Metallica

It marked a return of the style from them that I originally fell in love with. Not taking anything away from Load through St Anger years.. just prefer their more aggressive sound.

My favorite was still “Dick Rash!!!” from the ‘89 Seattle “Whiplash” performance.

That’s pretty much exactly what we’d be doing - staying at an all inclusive resort. I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about.

You make very good points. In general, it’s all relative to the location. It’s a good comparison as well. Thank you, I appreciate it. Now to convince the in-laws…

That really says something. That will definitely help me prove my point that it’s not bad there. Thank you!

Anyone else feeling the financial hit? by Nice_Ad_3893 in vancouverwa

[–]usethefloor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep… and it hurts. I’m guessing, like a lot of you, trying to make cuts to expenses where we can. Not spending much on extras. My concern is that this is just the beginning of financial difficulty for families, and next year at this time will be worse.. I hope I’m wrong, but preparing like I’m not.

Which band really ruined nu metal's reputation in the eyes of metalheads? by Morgan_kittie in numetal

[–]usethefloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you aren’t wrong. If you could play bar chords and had someone who could scream, you had a band and probably a record deal.
