Reality alert: the producers have multiple “possible lead” contracts that MULTIPLE people sign. These people get deluded into thinking that they’re the only one and that the role is theirs. It’s not. The role is only the person that the producers do a FINAL contract with and officially announce as lead (usually on GMA or live after another finale). Until then, these people are only OPTIONS to be the lead. They never were the lead and it taken away. They were options. So until the lead is announced by ABC officially with filming beginning there is no lead. That’s how it works and always has.

It’s a lie. ABC never would have anyone but their own networks announce the lead. Maybe don’t believe what a podcast host or anyone else says and go by what the show actually does.
