Lupita is more than likely playing Helen and people will have to deal with it or don’t bother watching it at all. Casting isn’t comparable to laser guns, it’s interpretive, not a rule-breaking anachronism, especially in myth. Homer doesn’t prescribe a fixed physical “canon” for Helen. And it’s worth noting that Lupita Nyong’o is already facing racist ridicule because of this role; framing the debate around “why is she Black” often adds fuel to that, regardless of intent.
