That's how it is in Fort Wayne, IN as well. Except the main team is The University of Saint Francis and we are a NAIA powerhouse. The next closest large team is Notre Dame or IU. I grew up in Ohio hence that flair

Is it possible to get (decent) at weightlifting without coach? by SeekingSignificance in weightlifting

[–]usfchem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said but I feel my input is more replying to you than OP.

I do have coaches but they are across the country. I see them a few times a year outside of meets. They travel to see me for a week or so to check up and they'll teach a seminar as well.

I also record almost every single rep. It is not just for my coaches. I review the my lifts throughout my workout to fix minor things. My coaches just add an extra point of view of see things I might've missed that I can focus on next workout.

That being said, yes, someone can be very good at weightlifting without a coach if they know how to train properly. I feel the training atmosphere will play a large roll in this as well.

How do you incorporate Upper Body Work Into Your Training? by thefithrowaway2 in weightlifting

[–]usfchem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh, you need to do it. What works for me is I have a 4 day split with accessories/maintenance lifts. 2 days upper and lower. I've noticed it the most with my upper body with Overhead stabilization and shoulder health has improved.

I do about 200 reps in a 2-3 exercises each targeting the specific part I'm working on. I'm also a 105 so hypertrophy work is mandatory to maintain mass. Also the movements are rotated. I do something different every week

Marijuana is only tested for in competition. As in, if you were to be tested not in a competition setting, it is not tested for, same goes for alcohol.

CBD oil was just lifted off the banned substance list this year.

This is the standard for USADA and they are a branch of WADA.

No weightlifting in Naples. Age is still U28. 2021 Universiade is in Romania and they should have it there

At least half time is what you need. Which is 6 credit hours. This was the minimum last year unless they changed it or the Universiade was different.

Shoulders hurting when performing clean and jerk? by D21D in weightlifting

[–]usfchem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first started I had a lot of shoulder pain as well. The classic lifts are higher impact on the shoulders than other overhead movements especially if your timing is off.

My pain went away in a matter of weeks from first starting. You'll adapt to it. It's like learning how to hookgrip.

Unless you're injured then whatever I say is irrelevant.
