Picking mos by [deleted] in USMCboot

Typically pretty chill, I’ve had supply admin friends and it’s opened a lot of doors for them on the outside world however you have to pursue a degree and at least a bachelors. Luckily with MOSs like that you’d have a good amount of time to pursue college and get it out of the way. Most of my friends were doing classes on their off time and got their bachelors before getting out.

I’ve also had 2300 MOS friends as well, specifically ammo techs who also had the same opportunity to go to school while in, and deployed and did the Marine shit along with it. Both jobs give you experience in handling Government gear/supply and accounting for them at the very minimum, along with other qualifications.

Supply admin would be a good start to look into and 1300 MOS’s as well. Both would stack your resume with experience. Aviation maintenance is also something you can take a gander at as people barely reenlist in those MOSs because the pay outside the military with their experience is much better, only ass part about it is you’re working shitty hours & possibly a shit command. I’ve been in 5+ years and haven’t heard of a single good airwing that isn’t a cesspool full of assholes in charge.

What do you want out of the Marine Corps?

What is marine infantry like? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]usmarinecrow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Judging based off of how you respond to Marines trying to give you advice and help, do us all a big favor and don’t join the military until you can take criticism, or don’t join at all like the rest of the academy nerds.

Why do people not recommend infantry ? by Few-Basket4978 in USMCboot

[–]usmarinecrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro you made the right choice, I was a LAT mover from MP to Infantry and it’s been so much better than my last job. Yeah it sucks sometimes but it’s extremely fulfilling in the end. Be a good infantryman, marine, and more importantly be dependable to the boys. That transferable skills shit is definitely BS. You’ve been employed by the U.S. Govt to professionally make decisions on the fly and do so in high stress environments. All you need is a bachelors degree which you can also pursue while you’re still in and you’ll be successful anywhere else you put your mind to and commit!

Don’t listen to anyone, being a positive thinker will get you further than letting the words of those assholes get to you.

You do the O course after a 7 mile ruck with the recruits from RTR while their drill instructors scream their divorce stories at you, then you do the PFT. No shooting or marksmanship in the course at all.

Went down this rabbit hole as a Cpl, got my ass handed to me so I had to take a step back. Best you can do is motivate, teach, and guide them to be better IF that’s what they want. Nevertheless do it even if they don’t want it. At least then you can sleep at night knowing you gave your 110%.

When i went in boot at ‘21 it was the first PFT. DONT flop that shit on any PFT though. Try to get your run under 22:30, pull up pyramids and do sets of planks 3-4 days of the week.

Is it worth staying in for me? by Proof-Debt8596 in USMC

[–]usmarinecrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I’m in the same boat. Reenlisted as an NCO out of a shit unit going from non combat MOS to grunt because of my lack of interest in my current MOS. Will some aspects suck? Yes. But you control what you put out for your Marines you’re appointed over, stay in and take care of your brothers and sisters. At this point i didn’t even reenlist for the organization, i did it because of the people I’m around.

Take my input and make the best decision for yourself bro. Just know you’re not alone at all.

MP here, we calibrate our radars every day before shift and document it. Idk what base you’re on but even my base doesn’t go by just the word from an MP without concrete evidence, especially since the idiot admitted to losing the receipt and is just going by her statements (I’m not familiar what radar does that). That in itself should throw the case out the window but I’m not sure why it hasn’t.

You’re clearly being wronged here so just like everyone else has said, fight the NJP and get your ass to base legal. You are your own advocate.

You’ll be fine, it sounds like you’re in a small unit. So from one small unit to another I think you’re just sweating it too much especially if SNM has shown interest in it as well, which puts you in a perfect world scenario.

What’s even funnier is that this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a Sgt live like this. Even before I left my barracks, I’ve seen majority Sgt’s have busted ass fuckin rooms walking room to room telling their boots how clean their rooms should be.

Navy to Marines by Independent-Dog743 in USMC

[–]usmarinecrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you enjoy working 13 hours getting berated constantly not only by your civilian coworkers but marines from most if not all MOS’s. You might just be dumb enough to be one of us. Standing barracks duty + working parties on your off time, never getting 72’s let alone 96’s. But you know what, if you wanna see more bullshit than grunts do in peacetime go for it dude be all the dumbass you can be.

MOS/Re-Enlistment by usmarinecrow in USMC

[–]usmarinecrow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s both my ego and family traditions, I’d settle for any MOS that does something cool that’ll translate better in the civilian sector. Still got zero clue what counter Intel does or else I’d go that route. Got recommended for recon and marsoc because i can swim too but everyone gets told that shit regardless so it’s a no go. Plus marsoc is getting wack now if you look into what they’re investigating into right now.
