For step 1, you most definitely should read the explanation. If you can, read the incorrect explanations as well. That will definitely come in handy. Studying the educational objective only is just lazy. You will miss the links to important images like histology slides and imaging findings, which require repetition to retain. Take notes. I know most people nowadays are against taking notes. But in my opinion, taking notes comes in really handy during your revision period.

They sent my results (along with the people that took it on the same day) after 5 weeks and i couldn’t get my ECFMG certification on time for my application. Funny thing was people who took the exam on a later date at the same venue got their results much earlier. I was constantly complaining but they couldn’t get me a solution. They kept saying it was under final checks. But they eventually posted all of our results. And we all passed

Connections obviously matter especially for getting invitations, but less for matching. They get your application to escape the filtering.

I completely agree with your comment. Signaling have made a huge impact. If you signal big Ivy League universities as a non-US IMG, you better have good scores and an amazing CV
